Not all characters are created equal. Some of them fans love, and some they love to despise.

The Bridgerton prequel is about to hit the screens, and fans are excited to meet some of the familiar characters in new circumstances, years before the events of the parent show.

However, if there's something that the series' huge fan base wants more than anything, it's the release of season three of the main romantic show. Everyone can't wait to catch up with the beloved characters and meet their new love interests, but there seems to be at least one character that viewers never want to see again — Marina Thompson.

Marina was introduced to the show as part of the Featherington family, with a heart-wrenching storyline that was heavily changed from the books to reflect the unfair situation of women in the Regency era.

While staying with the Featheringtons, Marina found out she was pregnant by her lover, Sir George Crane, who had gone off to fight in a war and died on the battlefield. When Marina's cunning plan to trap Colin Bridgerton in marriage failed, the situation turned into a huge scandal that would have ruined the girl's reputation forever if George's brother Philip hadn't come to offer her his hand in marriage and secure her future.

Even though Marina's whole arc was clearly meant to elicit sympathy, many fans found it hard to root for and feel sorry for the character — mainly because of the way she handled the terrible situation she found herself in.

Viewers felt that the heroine was too self-absorbed, and more often than not, her treatment of the other characters who tried to help her was just despicable. Yes, Marina's arc allowed for a certain amount of irritability, but she was not just irritable, she was really mean and kind of evil.

The way she tried to deceive Colin without explaining her situation, ignored Penelope's feelings for him, sniped at Daphne who was trying to help her find her lover, played back and forth with Phillip who just wanted to pay tribute to his late brother, and generally manipulated everyone around her did not sit well with the fans.

That's why many were unpleasantly surprised to see Marina in season two when Colin, apparently not quite over her, visited her new home with Sir Philip, where Marina was raising their child.

Fans found this storyline random and forced, with no significance to the main story or anyone's arc. And their hope is that Marina will never appear on the show again.
