The Boys Season 5 is shaping up to be Homelander’s coronation, with a supe-supremacist government paving his path to absolute power. Fueled by ego and momentum from the Season 4 finale, he’s closer than ever to making supe superiority the law of the land.

Prime Video just put a date on the endgame for The Boys and dropped a trailer that looks like a blood-slick sprint to the finish. If Season 4 was the moment the dam finally broke, Season 5 is the flood.

Season 5 is the final ride, and it has a date

The Boys wraps with Season 5, premiering April 8, 2026 on Prime Video. Alongside the date, Amazon rolled out the first full trailer for the final chapter, and it does not look interested in subtlety.

Where the story picks up

We jump ahead six months after Gen V Season 2. Homelander has what he always wanted: a country that runs on Supe power, and a government openly cheering on Supe supremacy. He is effectively above the law, and the world is getting meaner under his shadow.

And yes, the fan theories are already flying. The big one: Homelander doesn’t stop at kingmaking, he goes full monarch. Some think he will kill the President and plant himself in the Oval Office, turning the U.S. into a full-on Supe dictatorship. To be crystal clear, that’s speculation, not confirmation. But given where Season 4 left things, it’s not a wild leap.

What the trailer shows

  • Butcher and MM rally the team for one last mission as the world sinks deeper into Supe-controlled chaos.
  • Hughie is locked up, until Starlight blasts her way in. Breakout teased, sparks literally flying.
  • Frenchie and Kimiko reunite, finally on the same page after last season’s fallout.
  • Homelander goes feral on someone off-screen, then appears side by side with Soldier Boy. Uncomfortable pairing, maximum menace.
  • Quick flashes of basically everyone who matters: Ashley, A-Train, The Deep, Ryan, Sister Sage, Zoe, and Stan Edgar. No one’s sitting this one out.
  • First look at Supernatural alum Jared Padalecki in a mystery role. No hints, just a very deliberate reveal.

Antony Starr is already calling his shot

Homelander himself, Antony Starr, told Collider he was six episodes deep when he spoke and that the ending caught even him off guard. His words:

"I'm six deep. I haven't seen the penultimate finale yet, but I know what happens, and I think fans are going to be either surprised or shocked, depending on their nervous system, but very, very entertained."

He also called the finale wildly unpredictable, saying he had ideas about where it might land and still got blindsided. Translation: do not expect a safe landing.

The road to the last punch-up

Between the timeline jump, a Supe-run America, and Homelander tightening his grip, Season 5 is set up for a messy, high-stakes breakup of every alliance on the board. Butcher and the Boys are back together, at least for this one last shot. Homelander looks scarier than ever. And with Padalecki entering the chat and Soldier Boy looming, there are more than enough variables to blow up the map.
