The Boys Season 5 Teaser Locks In Release Date for a Brutal Final Run
The end is nigh for The Boys: Prime Video unleashed the Season 5 teaser at CCXP 2025 in São Paulo, revealing the release schedule and when the brutal final chapter begins.
Prime Video finally pulled back the curtain on the last run of The Boys. The first Season 5 teaser dropped at CCXP in São Paulo, and now we know exactly when the endgame starts. It looks grim, big, and very on-brand for this show.
When the end begins
- Teaser debut: CCXP 2025 in São Paulo
- Season 5 premiere: April 8, 2026
- Premiere drops two episodes
- Finale date: May 20, 2026
What the teaser actually shows
Homelander (Antony Starr) is basically running the world on his own unstable impulses. Meanwhile, Hughie (Jack Quaid), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso), and Frenchie (Tomer Capone) are locked up in something called a 'Freedom Camp' — which, yes, sounds exactly like the opposite of what it says.
Annie/Starlight (Erin Moriarty) is out front leading a resistance against the Supes. Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) is nowhere to be found. And Butcher (Karl Urban) is back with a plan that goes for the jugular: unleash a virus that could wipe out every Supe. The official logline doesn’t mince words:
"He sets in motion a chain of events that will forever change the world and everyone in it."
Familiar faces, new problems
Jensen Ackles returns as Soldier Boy, except he’s on ice — literally cryogenically frozen. Jared Padalecki is joining the cast in a role they are keeping under wraps for now. That’s a mini Supernatural reunion with Ackles and showrunner Eric Kripke, who hit the CCXP stage with the cast and promised the final season swings big. Misha Collins is also in Season 5, though he’s not in this first teaser.
How this connects to Gen V
Season 5 picks up the threads from Gen V Season 2. That spin-off ended with Polarity warning Marie Moreau and her crew that Vought was coming for them, which pushed the group to throw in with Annie’s growing resistance. Even A-Train (Jessie T. Usher) crossed the line and joined the rebellion. Kripke says The Boys Season 5 is set several months after the Gen V finale, and in that time… things have not gone well for the resistance.
The universe keeps expanding
Outside the flagship series, The Boys world keeps getting bigger. There’s the animated The Boys Presents: Diabolical, plus more spin-offs on the way: Vought Rising and The Boys: Mexico.
