The Bear Season 5 Update Has Fans Divided — Here’s Why
The Bear is reportedly calling it a day after Season 5—and fans are split, with some cheering a tidy finish while others aren’t ready to leave Carmy Berzatto’s pressure-cooker world.
So, The Bear looks set to call it after Season 5. That news hit the timeline and, predictably, everyone had an opinion. Some folks are cheering a clean, planned finish. Others are already ordering another course.
How the ending news got out
Jamie Lee Curtis essentially pushed the first domino last month. She posted a photo with Abby Elliott (who plays her on-screen daughter, Natalie Berzatto) and announced they had closed the book on the Berzatto family.
'FINISHED STRONG! Surrounded by an extraordinary crew and group of writers and producers and scene partners on the show that Chris Storer created, completing the story of this extraordinary family that we have all fallen in love with.'
Not long after, multiple trade reports echoed the same thing: Season 5 is the end for the Jeremy Allen White-led series. In a follow-up interview, Curtis said everyone involved understood Season 5 would be the last, and she half-joked that she would have really stepped in it if that turned out to be wrong.
Fans split down the middle
The reaction was immediate and very mixed. Plenty of viewers like that the show is choosing its exit and not dragging out a good thing.
'It's good when show runners know when to end their show and not drag it out'
On the other side, some are nowhere near ready to say goodbye and argued there was room for at least a couple more seasons.
'Na this sucks. I think 2 more would have been perfect. Still got a bunch of stuff they could do'
Others vented about specific story choices from Season 4 (yes, that Syd debate popped up again), and a steady stream of reaction memes and gifs did the rest.
What we know about Season 5
Season 5 is expected to arrive sometime in 2026, but there is no exact date yet. The series comes from Christopher Storer, who runs the show with Joanna Calo. Jeremy Allen White leads as Carmy Berzatto, with Jamie Lee Curtis as Donna Berzatto and Abby Elliott as Natalie. If you felt Season 4 teed everything up for a proper finale, you were not alone.
Five seasons feels like a confident plate. Now it just has to land clean.
