The 5 Vampire Diaries Episodes You'll Never Want to Watch Again
The Vampire Diaries fans pick the show's cringiest moments.
The CW's hit show The Vampire Diaries ran for eight long years, and a whole generation of viewers became addicted to the mysterious atmosphere of Mystic Falls, the twists and turns of the show's character arcs, and of course, the romantic ups and downs of the love triangle between Elena Gilbert and the Salvatore brothers.
While the show has been largely praised by viewers, it has had its fair share of cringe-worthy moments that fans of the show still love to discuss on the Internet. Here are five scenes that can make you feel secondhand embarrassment all over again.
Eternal Flame
Speaking of secondhand embarrassment, many viewers recall the Season 2 episode 'The House Guest' when Caroline Forbes sang The Bangles' 'Eternal Flame' to confess her love to Matt Donovan. The scene was so cheesy, it was hard to watch.
'I have to fast forward through that scene every time. I literally start yelling: "lah blah la lah" because I'm so embarrassed for her,' a fan commented on the moment.
Zach Roerig's Czech Accent
In the Season 5 premiere episode, Matt is possessed by a Czech traveler named Gregor. Zach Roerig, the actor playing Matt, had to fake a Czech accent for the entire episode, and that was a disturbing experience for many viewers. Some even confessed to muting their TV during his lines.
'I wonder if he could feel my discomfort through the screen,' one of the commenters said.
Jeremy Ripping Off His Shirt
Easily one of the cringiest scenes in The Vampire Diaries came in the Season 4 episode 'A View to a Kill.' In the midst of a Stefan–Damon fight, Jeremy Gilbert screams and rips off his shirt, Hulk-style, revealing the completed Hunter's Mark on his body.
'I dare anyone to watch that scene without cringing,' a fan wrote.
Damon's Self-Sabotage Moments
Damon Salvatore is probably the most conflicted character on the show. Too often he goes from doing something terrible to feeling remorse and self-pity. Of course, this is also the case with Elena and Damon's relationship, and viewers got really annoyed when they had to listen to Damon's monologue about how bad he was for Elena, which felt like he's been going through one thing over and over again, a million times.
"Sooooo cringe. I just roll my eyes when he talks," another fan recalled.
Elena–Damon Reunion
Even though Damon was sure he was wrong for Elena, the two happened to be the show's endgame. But their reunion came after Elena's actress, Nina Dobrev, took a two-season hiatus. And when she returned for the show's finale, fans felt that the dynamic between the actors was off. Nina's wig, acting, and lack of chemistry with her co-star — everything felt awkward rather than romantic, resulting in a very cringey reunion.
'The Delena reunion was like a slap in the face to anyone who loved them as a couple,' a fan commented on the finale. 'Oh my gosh it was so bad.'
