Teen Wolf alum Tyler Posey trades claws for the director’s chair, making his feature debut with serial-killer chiller Sober House.

If you know Tyler Posey mostly as the Teen Wolf guy, get ready to see him behind the camera. He is making his feature directorial debut with a horror thriller called Sober House, and yes, he is starring in it too. The tone? Dark and tense with a streak of comedy. The plan? Cameras roll in the Los Angeles area in early 2026.

So what is Sober House?

Posey co-wrote the script with John Ahle Kellar. The setup is a sharp hook: three addicts, shaken by their best friend’s overdose, head to a secluded sober living facility in the mountains to get clean. Once they get there, they figure out the program’s star pupil is a recovering serial killer who is… relapsing in his own way. Fun retreat, right?

Who is making it?

Posey is wearing a lot of hats here: director, lead, co-writer, and producer. He is producing through his new shingle, Pocket Full of Posey Entertainment. Keli Price is also producing via Price Productions; he previously worked with Posey on the drama Death of a Brewer. According to Deadline, Sober House is officially billed as a horror thriller with comedic elements.

"Sober House is years in the making and hits close to home. Finally partnering with Keli whose work ethic, passion, love and kindness matches what I like to bring to a project. My approach is to highlight the grounded buddy comedy tone, inspired by the American Pie days, and flipping that on its head in a way that is familiar and new at the same time."

Price, for his part, says he is excited to keep building with Posey and co-writer Kellar, and thinks this one is a strong showcase for Posey’s range behind the camera and in front of it. He wants audiences to dive into the world they have put together.

Posey’s horror track record is already deep

  • Fought pint-sized Bratzis in Kevin Smith’s Yoga Hosers
  • Popped up in Screamboat, the killer Mickey Mouse slasher
  • Dealt with a zombie outbreak in Alone
  • Appeared on Scream: The TV Series
  • Played Truth or Dare
  • Anchored Teen Wolf for 100 episodes and a movie

And what about more Teen Wolf?

Posey is still pushing to keep that universe alive. He has already written a script for another Teen Wolf movie and has made it clear he wants to continue the franchise. While that cooks, Sober House is the one to watch. Early 2026 is a long runway, but the premise has a nasty little twist that could play really well if the tone lands the way he describes.

Curious to see Posey flip that American Pie energy into a serial killer relapse story? Same.
