Ted Lasso S03E08: Jack Finally Shows True Colors, Fans Praise Fantastic Writing
Ted Lasso writers continue to deliver drama.
Episode 8 of Ted Lasso Season 3 is finally out, continuing to explore the personal lives of the show's characters. Now the writers have begun to bring all their arcs together, leading fans to a satisfying finale that will conclude the paths the beloved characters have taken.
One of the highlights of Season 3 was the storyline of Keeley and her boss/girlfriend Jack. In the recent episode, Jack finally showed her true nature, and Keeley had to deal with the consequences by seeking support from her AFC Richmond friends.
After viewing the episode, fans came online to express their admiration for the writers and how they handled Keeley and Jack's suspicious relationship.
'Oh the last two episodes were merely the writers love-bombing us into everything was great – and brought it all down. Just like Jack did this episode. FANTASTIC writing to be honest,' one of the fans said.
At first, it seemed that Keeley had finally found the peace she deserved by bonding with Jack, but then there were certain bells to ring that made fans wonder if Jack really was the love of her life. Jack was the one who really did the love bombing, and that seemed creepy to say the least.
Jack made gestures that could be read as manipulative, if not abusive. First, she gave Keeley a first edition of Sense and Sensibility, signed by Jane Austen. A great gift in itself, it was clearly too much for the moment, considering that the two were just at the start of their relationship. Then it turned out that Jack paid for Keeley and Rebecca's dinner, and this cemented fans' belief she wasn't the right partner for Keeley.
'The thing that sealed my distaste for Jack was when Keeley and Rebecca were at the restaurant and Jack paid for everything,' another fan shared.
In the last episode, Jack finally showed her true colors. As soon as Keeley's sex tape was leaked, she promised to 'take care of it,' but the only thing she really cared about was her legal security and public image.
'Especially introducing Keeley as just a friend when earlier she mentioned how she wanted to show off her "girlfriend" to all the people at the polo match,' a Redditor noted, pointing to the fact that Jack began publicly distancing herself from Keeley after the scandal. That perfectly proved that Jack wasn't concerned for her girlfriend, caring only about her own reputation.
Many fans suggested that the leak might have been organized by Jack herself, as she wanted Keeley to depend on her. If so, there is an obvious parallel to what Rupert did to Rebecca, who even gave Keeley a warning in the previous episode.
Now Keeley will have to make her own conclusions from the situation, learning to be more confident and self-reliant in the process. Fans can't wait to see what the writers have prepared for the character in the next episode, which will be released on May 10.
