Ted Lasso Prediction: Is Season 3 Gearing Up For Zava's Character Twist?
Ted Lasso's third season, which marks the end of the series, has put new characters and storylines on the table.
Zava appeared on the show in episode 2 and stirred controversy right away. He is a very conflicted character and bound to have an important plot line on Ted Lasso.
An internationally famous footballer, Zava is a precious asset for AFC Richmond.
He’s revered within the soccer community and everybody is in awe of him. But Zava is a difficult person.
He has changed many clubs during his career and seems to have some personal issues that result in his inability to form strong social connections. Since Ted Lasso is about being the better version of yourself, it is only natural to think that Zava is going to undergo a transformation of some sorts.
During their very uncomfortable talk at the urinals, Rebecca tells Zava off for his cowardice. After being confronted for his constant running away and reveling in fame, Zava seemed to be contemplating whether it was true and if he needed to make changes in his life. This concern hints at his more complicated character than what the media portrays.
And in the end he chooses Richmond AFC as his new club to prove them wrong.
Certainly, Zava is an internationally beloved superstar. He is spoiled by the attention he’s given and the money he’s paid. But it doesn’t mean he’s unaware about it. He seems willing to change. Only he doesn’t know how. This is where Ted Lasso can come in handy. The coach can guide the chaos-bringing soccer star through his character transformation just like he helped Jamie, Isaac, or Sam.
Of course, there must be more drama surrounding Zava as a person since he’s older and has been around longer and thus has more issues. He has played on the international level and has much more experience than anybody on the team.
So the relationship between Ted and Zava will be way more complicated as the coach won’t have as much influence on him. Besides, Zava has deeper knowledge of soccer and has a lot to teach Lasso himself.
However, Zava has potential. He can take on the role of mentor for the younger and less experienced players. He can actually coach them to play soccer. This will give him the sense of belonging. Zava will finally learn what it is like to be a part of the team and how rewarding it is to get invested in people as his expert contribution to AFC Richmond will secure his legacy as one of the world’s greatest footballers.
