Ted Lasso is advertised as a sports comedy series, but somewhat surprisingly, the show isn't entirely about soccer and the club.

Much of the series' appeal is in its focus on the personal lives of its characters, their troubles and hopes — and that's certainly one of the reasons so many fans feel attached to Ted Lasso and its stories. Fans have been paying close attention to the characters' romantic storylines, and many have come to like the idea of Ted Lasso and Rebecca Welton being together.

Earlier, we've seen Lasso go through some emotional turmoil after learning that his ex-wife is seeing their former family therapist. And in 'Big Week,' the latest episode aired on April 5, the coach learns to accept his difficult situation, leaving fans hopeful for a possible TedBecca ship.

According to the psychic's prediction in the previous episode, the owner of the AFC Richmond will have a family — though not necessarily with Sam, whom she was seeing earlier. Although he was the one who gave Rebecca the 'green matchbook,' mentioned by the fortune teller, it could well be the green notebook Coach Lasso uses during the matches!

In the meantime, Ted's relationship with Flo (Sassy) also doesn't seem to be the show's endgame. When in the new episode, Lasso suggests that he and Flo could go on a real date, she refuses, saying that she wants to keep things casual. And it's no wonder because Sassy is one of the most troubled characters psychologically, and after going through the painful divorce from her husband, she's still unable to bond with someone seriously.

'There's just something about Sassy saying that she and Ted won't work because they're both messes but Rebecca saying that him being a mess is the reason they get along,' one of the fans noted on Reddit, reflecting on the relationships between the characters.

Indeed, both Ted and Becca are going through traumatic separations from their former spouses that are affecting their lives emotionally. But it's the awareness of these similar situations that allows them to support each other despite all the misgivings. Like the time when she comforted Ted during a panic attack, and he stood up for Becca by beating Rupert, who was threatening her, in a game of darts.

'I think it makes sense with what Sassy said too — she's at least 3 years deep into her own "mess" whereas Rebecca and Ted are still fresh in theirs. It's the reason he forgave Rebecca so easily in season 1, since the hurt was still very raw for them both,'

another Redditor said, referring to Ted forgiving Becca for trying to destroy AFC Richmond as a way of taking revenge on her ex-husband Rupert, the club's former owner. Lasso understood her pain then, and she understood his, and that is exactly what draws these characters together.
