Nate's redemption is sure to happen, but how will it come about?

Ted Lasso continues to develop Nate's storyline as one of the main antagonists. Driven by jealousy that his contribution to AFC Richmond's success was not appreciated by the team and coaching staff, Nathan Shelley managed to wreak no small amount of havoc, breaking the hearts of Ted and his former colleagues.

But since Season 3 seems to be the show's last, the writers are clearly trying to get Nate back on the straight and atone for all his past transgressions. After joining Rupert's team, West Ham United, Nate began to realize that he had made the wrong decision. But how will this atonement take place exactly?

Viewers have an idea: Rupert is the one who will 'help' Nate.

'Nate will bring Jade around the club and Rupert will again give the same assessment and it will finally drive Nate away and back to Ted,' one of the fans suggested.

Ever since Nate joined the new soccer club, Rupert has humiliated him for his modesty, insinuating that he needed to live up to his status. It was an obvious manipulation designed to further inflame his Napoleon complex. But Rupert could do the same with Jade, the host at the Greek restaurant Nate had asked out.

'Started the show being unable to defend himself when he was being bullied, end it by defending someone else from being bullied,' a Reddior continued the train of thought. Nate can finally fight back when he sees that Rupert, playing on the coach's insecurities, insults one of the few people he cares about.

On the other hand, while other fans agree that Nate should finally be redeemed, they feel that this is not enough for forgiveness from Ted and AFC Richmond. He needs to fall even further from grace to not only be pardoned, but to realize everything about himself.

'He kind of always had it in him, he just needed to be brought back down to earth to realize he didn't have to be a dick to be respected/appreciated/talented/good,' another fan added, implying that Nate is not a bad character to begin with, and his arc in Season 3 should eventually prove this.

We will see how Nate's fate turns out in the upcoming episodes. The next episode of Ted Lasso will be released on May 3, 2023.
