Although The Big Bang Theory remains one of the most popular sitcoms of all time, it wasn't an instant hit. Premiering in 2007, the CBS comedy failed to catch on with audiences, who needed another installment to truly appreciate the show. To this day, Season 1 of TBBT has one of the lowest ratings of the sitcom's twelve episodes.
Eventually, The Big Bang Theory became a hit. Centered around a bunch of nerdy CalTech scientists and their few friends, the sitcom gave us a lot of memorable characters, each of whom could be described as the embodiment of a certain stereotype. And in the end, it was the relationships between the characters that won over the audience and provided tons of comic relief.
In particular, there was one relationship on the show that many fans loved. Raj, the most awkward guy of the gang, had a crush on his best friend's girlfriend, Bernadette. So much so that he even fantasized about having a go with her while his friend was in space.
Interestingly, most viewers found even the possibility of this romance amusing. Unfortunately, it never happened on TBBT. But it looks like fans of the show will soon have a chance to see the actors in a romantic setting - albeit on another show.
Kunal Nayyar Will Make a Cameo on Melissa Rauch's Night Court
Since the end of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, many shows have returned to screens, including NBC's revival of the classic sitcom Night Court. The modern iteration, starring Melissa Rauch, who played Bernadette on TBBT, began its second season just before Christmas 2023, with episodes currently airing.
The Raj actor, Kunal Nayyar, will appear in the February 6 episode titled A Crime of Fashion, where he plays a world-famous designer who's experiencing designer's block. But when he pays a visit to the Night Court, he finds his new muse in the face of Rauch's character, Judge Abby Stone. It is also hinted that the character will attempt to woo the sitcom's protagonist, and there may be a brief romance between the two.
Raj's Dream Is Coming True
Under the circumstances, Nayyar and Rauch couldn't help but pay tribute to their TBBT characters and their complex relationship. While Bernadette and Raj never explored his fantasy on the CBS sitcom, it remains one of the show's most memorable moments. And apparently the actors are very flattered by it.

Anyway, it remains to be seen what will become of Kunal Nayyar's cameo on Night Court and how successful his attempts to win over Melissa Rauch's character turn out to be.
