TBBT Fans Agree That This Character Was the Best Girlfriend for Raj

Of all the characters on The Big Bang Theory, Raj seems to have the worst luck in love. Struggling with selective mutism, which prevented him from talking to women for most of TBBT's twelve seasons, Rajesh could only dream of having a girlfriend when the show began. Ironically, it was his breakup with Lucy that helped him overcome this problem.

At the same time, although Raj became brave enough to talk to women, he was still quite insecure about himself and behaved obnoxiously towards his dates. As a result, his love life didn't improve as he kept getting into bad relationships and ruining the good ones. Worst of all, he never got the chance to explore a romance with a woman who might have been his perfect match.

An Underexplored Cameo

In Episode 15 of Season 6, Raj was upset that he had no one to spend Valentine's Day with and instead of celebrating, he had to work at the telescope lab. Unable to take Cinnamon with him, he asked Leonard and Penny to watch her, but they failed miserably when the dog ate a box of chocolates while they were having sex.

Fearing for her well-being, Penny and Leonard took her to the vet, a young woman named Yvette, who was very dedicated to her job and scolded the couple for being irresponsible. When Raj stormed into the room, ranting and raving about how they had almost killed his precious girl, he and Yvette seemed to have some sort of connection, which Penny noticed.

Indeed, the dynamic between Raj and Yvette was interesting. They certainly shared a deep love of animals. But more importantly, they hated irresponsible people, which would make them a great couple. Plus, Yvette seemed genuinely attracted to Raj. Unfortunately, the character never returned to TBBT after that single episode.

Yvette's Fate

In anticipation of the Valentine's Day episode, Steve Molaro, one of TBBT's showrunners, teased that there could be a potential romance between Raj and Yvette, portrayed by Tania Raymonde of Lost fame.

'Maybe the vet is a cute young lady and maybe Raj is so worried about his dog that for one night he's not a nervous jackass and he's charming. We'll see what happens from there,' Molaro said in an interview, adding that Amy and Bernadette were also conceived as supporting characters who weren't supposed to have a long run on the snow and ended up being part of the ensemble cast.

However, that wasn't the case for Yvette, and neither we nor Raj saw her after that one episode of Season 7, with Raj going on to have short-lived affairs and romances without ever finding his true love.
