Taylor Swift turned late-night into awards-season buzz, praising Leonardo DiCaprio’s One Battle After Another and sharing early Oscars predictions on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon while promoting her 12th album The Life of a Showgirl, released October 3.

Taylor Swift went on Fallon to plug her new album and ended up turning the segment into a surprise love letter to Paul Thomas Anderson. Honestly? Not mad at it.

Swift on Fallon: last movie she watched

On Monday night, Swift stopped by 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon' to talk up her 12th studio album, 'The Life of a Showgirl' (out October 3). During Fallon's 'Game of Lasts' bit, he asked about the last movie she saw. Swift lit up and named Anderson's latest, 'One Battle After Another,' and then went full film‑nerd about it.

'One Battle After Another. My god.'

'We are so lucky to be alive at the same time as Paul Thomas Anderson... He is writing it. He is directing it. He is existing on this higher level that we get to watch.'

She did not hold back on the Oscars talk either, basically wondering out loud how the Academy is supposed to choose between Chase Infiniti and Teyana Taylor because both are that good. She also called Benicio del Toro 'so funny,' said Leo DiCaprio was 'hilarious,' and shouted out the score's main theme for hitting a different emotional note every time it returns. If you are hearing Swift rave about a PTA music cue on network TV and thinking, wow, that is some inside baseball... you are correct, and it was delightful.

What is 'One Battle After Another'?

  • Writer/director: Paul Thomas Anderson (this is his 10th feature)
  • Release: September 26; now in theaters
  • Box office: $102 million worldwide
  • Plot: Leonardo DiCaprio plays Bob Ferguson, a washed-up revolutionary who has to track down his daughter after an old enemy resurfaces 16 years later
  • Cast: Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, Benicio del Toro, Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor, Chase Infiniti
  • Reception: Near-universal praise and already part of the awards conversation for the 2026 Oscars (yes, awards timelines are weird, but the buzz is real)

So, yes, Taylor Swift is currently promoting 'The Life of a Showgirl' and simultaneously campaigning (unofficially) for PTA's new movie. If you needed one more nudge to catch it on the big screen, consider that your cue.
