Paramount+ is drilling deeper into Taylor Sheridan’s TV empire, renewing Landman for Season 3 and bringing Billy Bob Thornton back to the oilfield drama.

Paramount+ is not waiting around. Taylor Sheridan has another hit on its hands, and the streamer just locked it in for more.

Landman gets a Season 3

Landman, the Billy Bob Thornton-led oilfield drama, has been renewed for Season 3. Paramount+ made the call a few episodes into the show’s currently airing second season, which tells you exactly how confident they are in this thing.

The numbers back it up. Per THR, Season 1 averaged 15.8 million viewers. Season 2 came out swinging too — its premiere set a platform record as the biggest premiere in Paramount+ history, for any season or series.

The show, in plain terms

Launched in 2024, Landman is inspired by the Boomtown podcast and created by Taylor Sheridan with Christian Wallace, who also runs the show. It’s set in the West Texas oilfields and follows Tommy Norris (Thornton), a petroleum landman who doubles as an operations VP at an oil company. If you’re not familiar with the job title: think the person brokering drilling rights and navigating the messy overlap of money, land, and politics.

Who is in it

  • Billy Bob Thornton as Tommy Norris
  • Ali Larter
  • Demi Moore
  • Michelle Randolph
  • Jacob Lofland
  • Kayla Wallace
  • James Jordan
  • Mark Collie

Short version: Sheridan’s West Texas saga isn’t going anywhere. Season 2 is rolling now, and Season 3 is officially on the way.
