Photos: Sydney Sweeney Throws Punches In Christy As Release Date Finally Lands
Sydney Sweeney's boxing drama Christy is finally stepping into the ring. The first photos just dropped, giving fans a look at Sweeney in full fighter mode, and the studio has locked in an official release date.
Sydney Sweeney is swapping glitter for gloves in Christy, a biopic about trailblazing boxer Christy Martin. We finally have a date, a debut, and a first look — and if you know Martin's story, you know this is not your standard feel-good sports movie.
Release plan
Black Bear Pictures has set Christy to make its world premiere this Friday at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival. The movie then heads to theaters on November 7, 2025.
First look: in the ring, and in the chaos
Vanity Fair dropped new images that show Sweeney in full fight mode, hinting the ring work is going to be a major draw. The photos also reveal Ben Foster as Christy's husband James V. Martin, and Chad L. Coleman stepping in as legendary boxing promoter Don King. Sweeney also teased the transformation on Instagram, because of course she did.
The story they are telling
The film follows Christy Martin's rise to stardom and the brutal turn her life took in 2010, when her husband attempted to murder her. Tough subject, tougher lead performance — and yes, the movie goes there.
