Succession Season 4 Theory Suggests Perfectly Logical Logan Twist
The events of the first episode of season four of the Roy family saga were swift, presenting us with the consequences of Roy Logan stripping his children of all control over Waystar Royco.
And since this is the final season, Succession fans are actively theorizing about what's going to happen next. What is the media tycoon up to now?
Right at the start of this season, viewers are treated to some witty parallels to the events of the very first episode. We find ourselves back in the middle of another Logan birthday party that ends in a stressful situation for the old baron.
Is this a loop of events leading to the tyrant's imminent death, fans wonder?
This is especially emphasized by the scene in which Logan Roy, accompanied by his bodyguard Colin, delves into existentialism, pondering the role of man in the harsh world of capitalism and questioning life after death.
Fans seem to agree that, sooner or later, we will see the demise of Waystar's CEO. Of course, the kingpin may yet outlive everyone, but his death would be perfectly logical, given the subplots of the story and the even greater zeal of the vultures who want the inheritance — to miss such a plot twist would simply be unwise!
As in Shakespearean tragedies, Logan's death can lead to the siblings' downfall. First, Chekhov's gun is sure to go off in the form of the Pierce family. Not only could their arrogance crash on the rocks of reality after their $10 billion purchase, but disagreements within the family could be a major reason: while Kendall and Shiv are driven by a desire for revenge, Roman seems to be the only one interested in forming an independent media holding.
However, Logan clearly feels backed into a corner and may hand over the reins to one of the trio.
The heir may well be Greg. Throughout the seasons, he mimicked his rich relatives, partially becoming one of them. And unlike his relatives who had it all at the beginning, he started at the bottom, like Logan did. Wouldn't bequeathing the company to him be a great last gift for Logan's brother? Unless Greg burns his wings on the wealth and power that comes with such an inheritance.
As the tension mounts, so does the intrigue. So who will be the successor to the entertainment and media conglomerate? Will there be any heirs at all, or will each family member be left with nothing? After all, Logan may die before he relinquishes control of the company.
Episode two of Succession season four will air on April 2, 2023.
