These antagonists raise too many questions.

There are many movies in which a hero battles an equally capable villain for the fate of the world or some people. But there are also movies with extremely stupid antagonists, here are just five such movies.

Beverly Hills Cop (1984, 7.4 on IMDb)

The classic action comedy starring Eddie Murphy was an absolute hit at the time of its release, grossing a whopping $234 million against a budget of $13 million. And it's fair to say that Beverly Hills Cop is a pretty decent movie, with an intense plot and exciting gunplay. But the whole movie is reduced to nothing when you realize that its villain, art gallery owner Victor Maitland, could have completely avoided being investigated if he had simply told Murphy's character that he had no idea why Axel's friend was murdered instead of misleading the cops.

Home Alone (1990, 7.7 on IMDb)

The antagonist duo from the first two installments of the classic comedy franchise, The Wet Bandits, also known as the Sticky Bandits, are the epitome of dimwitted. They have been beaten up by a little kid who has been left at home by his entire family. What's even more ridiculous is that this happens again in the second installment of the franchise, which only shows how intellectually inept the characters are.

Star Trek (2009, 7.9 on IMDb)

One of the most ridiculous villain arcs in all of film, Captain Nero's plot makes no sense, as he travels back in time to take revenge on Spock's home planet of Vulcan instead of trying to save his own from destruction. What's even more ridiculous is that Captain Nero, armed with advanced technology from the future, could have saved his planet. But instead, the movie needed an antagonist, so here he is in all his ridiculousness.

Fargo (1996, 8.1 on IMDb)

Jerry Lundegaard may not be the main or most dangerous villain in the Coen brothers' black comedy crime film, but he is definitely the dumbest of them all. After hiring some bandits to kidnap his wife in order to extort money from her father and his boss, Jerry tries to call off the whole plan, but everything he does makes things worse. In the end, most of the main characters are dead and Jerry, unable to control the situation, falls into the hands of the police.

Back to the Future (1985, 8.5 on IMDb)

Apart from his ridiculous looks, Biff Tannen from the cult sci-fi franchise has nothing between his ears. The eternal bully who tormented George McFly in school never grew out of his role and remained a crook for the rest of his life. His intelligence never developed either, so Biff remained the buffoon he always was.
