Star Wars Star Casts Doubt on The Mandalorian Season 4 — and Won't Join The Mandalorian and Grogu on the Big Screen

Season 4 hangs in the balance as even the team behind the show still doesn't know if it's happening.
Quick update from the Mando-verse: one of season 3's shadiest operators is sitting out the leap to the big screen, and even she has no idea if the show itself is coming back.
Katy O'Brian says Elia Kane is not in the movie
Katy O'Brian told Polygon she will not appear in 'The Mandalorian and Grogu' and does not know what is going on with season 4.
'I don't know if they're going to do a season 4. I know the movie's coming out. I know I'm not in it.'
For anyone catching up: O'Brian plays Elia Kane, the cool-as-ice communications officer who served Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito). She first showed up in season 2, got nabbed by the New Republic at the end of that season, then quietly kept pushing the Imperial agenda from inside the system while still working for Gideon. Classic double agent stuff.
Where does that leave season 4?
Unclear, to put it kindly. Season 3 wrapped more than two years ago, and there still has not been an official renewal or cancellation. O'Brian's comments do not settle anything, but they do tell us she has not been looped in on a season 4, and she is definitely not in the movie.
What we know about 'The Mandalorian and Grogu'
- Release date: hits theaters May 22, 2026.
- Returning: Pedro Pascal as Din Djarin, with Grogu, obviously.
- New faces: Sigourney Weaver playing a New Republic colonel; Jeremy Allen White voicing Rotta the Hutt (yes, Jabba's kid from The Clone Wars).
- Premise: The Empire is gone but not forgotten, with scattered warlords still making trouble. The New Republic, still finding its footing, taps Din and his tiny apprentice to help protect what the Rebellion won.
So if you were hoping Elia Kane would slither into the movie and complicate Din's life again, not this time. Given the cast and the setup, this sounds more like a clean, big-screen mission for Din and Grogu alongside the New Republic than an espionage-heavy detour. Season 4? Still in the void. The movie, at least, is locked in.
