[SPOILER] Voted Best Couple on Virgin River (Because Who Else Could It Be?)

In a few days, it will have been a month since the premiere of Season 5 of Netflix's flagship romance drama Virgin River. Another chapter in the story of the titular town's many characters, the new installment has been dubbed the most eventful yet. Most importantly, it has been the most significant season for the show's central characters, Mel Monroe and Jack Sheridan.

Since its inception, Virgin River has followed Melinda, an obstetrical nurse who lost her husband and decided to start her life anew in the small titular town where she met Jack. Their troubled romance has been the show's focal point. So it's no surprise that Virgin River fans have voted them the best couple on the series.

Virgin River Sweethearts

Since Season 1, Mel and Jack's love arc has been the driving force behind viewers' interest in the show. Played by Alexandra Breckenridge and Martin Henderson, respectively, the characters had an electrifying chemistry that made fans want to root for them.

Over the course of Virgin River's five-year run, Melinda and Jack have faced their share of hardships, from the constant interference of Sheridan's ex and the show's most hated character, Charmaine, to Mel's miscarriage in Season 5. Still, their love never fades. Neither does the fans' adoration for them.

Given the level of Virgin River's popularity, it is no wonder that there are fandom pages on almost every social media site. For example, the show's Facebook fans conducted a poll and came up with a very predictable result. Mel and Jack have been voted Virgin River's most loved couple.

The audience seems to agree that Melinda and Jack's romance is worth the entire show. It seems that their arc is the most important part of the plot, so much so that the rest of the story can be dropped entirely.

Indeed, no one expects anything else. No other characters on Virgin River have such a compelling relationship. Preacher's affairs evoke sympathy but feel empty. Brie's love triangle is corny. But Mel and Jack's romance is there to stay. Hopefully the show will continue to explore it in future seasons.
