Spider-Man: Brand New Day Just Wrapped — Here Comes Spidey’s Boldest Chapter
It’s a wrap: Destin Daniel Cretton reveals Spider-Man: Brand New Day has finished filming, marking the milestone with a heartfelt post as the wall-crawler swings into the next phase.
Well, that was fast: Spider-Man: Brand New Day has officially wrapped. Director Destin Daniel Cretton hopped on Instagram on Friday to say cameras are down and to thank the folks who dragged this thing across the finish line. He called it the biggest, most rewarding film he has worked on so far, and the post reads like a genuine love letter to the people who made it happen.
Production is a wrap, with extra love for Tom Holland
Cretton singled out Tom Holland for going above and beyond on set, praising him for the way he led and the way he worked. In his words:
'Thank you for your kind, generous leadership on and off screen, for your relentless work ethic, your fearless performances, and for your friendship.'
He also saluted the rest of the cast for bringing these characters to life and the crew for tireless, creative work that apparently had him laughing so hard his stomach hurt. It is the kind of wrap note that says: this shoot was a grind, but it was a good one.
Who is making it (and who is in it)
Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) directed from a screenplay by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. The cast is stacked:
- Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man
- Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/Punisher
- Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk
- Zendaya as MJ
- Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds
- Michael Mando as Mac Gargan/Scorpion
- Marvin Jones III as Lonnie Lincoln/Tombstone
- Sadie Sink in an undisclosed role
- Liza Colón-Zayas in an undisclosed role
- Tramell Tillman in an undisclosed role
The bump in the road
Worth noting: production did hit pause earlier when Holland got a mild concussion doing a stunt. He recovered, they resumed, and now here we are at the finish line.
The Sadie Sink mystery
This one is fun. Behind-the-scenes shots floating around show Sadie Sink wearing what looks like Punisher armor. Why would she be in Frank Castle gear? No clue yet. Fans are guessing everyone from Mayday Parker to Gwen Stacy to Madelyne Pryor to Jean Grey. That is a wide net, and nothing is confirmed, but the Punisher armor detail is definitely eyebrow-raising.
So, what now?
Now we wait to see how Brand New Day stacks up against No Way Home and what exactly this cast is cooking. With the shoot wrapped, marketing should not be far behind. Bring on the trailer.
