You may or may not like the DC Universe, its superheroes, and the entire media franchise spawned by DC Comics.

Nonetheless, one DС show remains in everyone's hearts. Yes, the one with Remy Zero's "Save Me" as the opening theme.

Smallville is arguably one of DC's best superhero shows. In telling the story of young Clark Kent's rise to Superman, the series minimizes action sequences and deals with themes of growing up, loss, difficult moral choices and overcoming unhealthy attachments.

And of course, the show is full of tragedy, which makes you shed a tear every time you watch it.

Big Bang Theory Episode That Still Bugs Even the Most Loyal Sheldon Fans

The season 5 episode "Reckoning" was probably one of the most heartbreaking as it featured the tragic death of Jonathan Kent, the protagonist's adoptive father. While Clark made sure Lana was safe, young Superman was unaware that he had made a deal with Jor-El that would cost his father's life. As a result, Jonathan has a heart attack after a fight with Lionel Luthor and dies in the arms of his wife and son. Makes you cry even now!

And yet, as sad as this moment is, there seems to be one that is even more sorrowful after all. Remember Alicia Baker?

"I know Alicia had her own demons and was by no means perfect. But she really was trying to redem herself, and she did not deserve what happened to her..." Reddit user southern5189 says.

Clark Kent's love interest, Alicia, was quite a controversial character, but her tragic ending left fans truly devastated. Of course, she was emotionally unstable as a result of childhood trauma, had an unhealthy obsession with Clark, tried to kill Lana Lang, and even exposed her object of worship to Red Kryptonite (aka drugged him).

However, after a long period of therapy, she really tried to get better, even though she lost credibility with everyone, including Clark himself.

When a series of attacks on young people (including the murder of a student) occurred in the town, all suspicion fell on Alicia. Unable to prove her involvement and regain the trust of Clark, for whom she still had strong feelings, Alicia herself became a victim of the perpetrator.

The future Superman never managed to save her, finding her lifeless body.

Alicia was absolutely not a goody. Yet she deserved at least partial redemption as a result of her work on herself. Thus, the tragedy of Alicia can be considered one of the saddest moments of the series.
