Rev up the nostalgia: a fan-favorite Sonic the Hedgehog animated series dashes onto Netflix today, bringing the blue blur’s classic adventures to a new generation of binge-watchers.

Netflix just added more blue blur to the queue: the classic Sonic X anime has a fresh batch of episodes to binge.

What just dropped

Sonic X Season 2 is now streaming on Netflix. Season 1 has been sitting there for a while, so if you were holding off for more, you can keep going without a pause.

Quick refresher on Sonic X

First aired in 2003, Sonic X is an anime from TMS Entertainment made with Sega and Sonic Team. The show ran for three seasons and totals 78 episodes. If you need a premise check: Dr. Eggman corrals the seven Chaos Emeralds for another big scheme, Sonic shows up to shut it down, and a misfire of Chaos Control slingshots everyone to a different world. Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, and the rest are stuck there with no clear way home, and Eggman (plus his usual goons) is stranded too. What follows is a race to round up the Emeralds before Eggman can turn this new world into his latest would-be empire.

"The race is on, and Sonic's gotta go fast!"

If you only know Sonic from the games or the movies: the franchise started on the Sega Genesis in 1991, and the blue hedgehog has been a pop-culture mainstay ever since. Sonic X is one of the more nostalgia-heavy TV entries, and it leans hard into the Emerald chase, cross-world chaos, and Sonic doing what Sonic does best.
