The battle is not over yet.

Unfortunately, canceling shows has become standard practice for major studios, and no matter how disappointed fans are, companies sometimes don't even listen to the team working on the project (apparently, the only way to get anything out of studios is to go on strike).

Netflix is particularly notorious for its number of cancellations. But even the multibillion-dollar media giant can't compete with the camaraderie of the Halo Bearers! Warrior Nun was canceled, but fans launched a massive campaign to get the show back on the air. The franchise was relaunched in the form of the three upcoming movies. However, it appears that the original creative team behind the series will not be involved in the feature-length sequels – so who will?

Resurrection Campaign

December 2022 turned out to be a disappointment for all fans of Ava Silva's adventures. Netflix canceled the series after the second season, despite high ratings (Season 2 is one of the highest rated on various aggregators, including Rotten Tomatoes). In response, stunned fans launched the #SaveWarriorNun campaign, supported by the team itself, led by showrunner Simon Barry.

As a result, a petition to renew the series garnered over 120,000 votes, an online convention was held with the writers, and in June 2023, Barry happily announced that the fans' efforts had been recognized and the franchise would be renewed.

Devastating News

Since then, however, there has been virtually no news of work on a feature-length trilogy, even after the WGA strike ended. The battle for the future of the Order of the Cruciform Sword members is not over, as Barry has announced that he is no longer involved in the project.

'I have no idea what's being announced tomorrow. I am not part of the team producing the movies, and have no deal in place for any writing or directing services. I am with you,' he wrote.

Alas, only the Halo redesign contest was announced.

Who's Involved Then?

Following Simon Barry, two of the show's core writers, Amy Berg and David Hayter, have also confirmed that they are no longer involved, replying to Barry's original post.

The only people still involved in the project are, of course, the creator of the original comic, Ben Dunn, who is serving as a story consultant, and executive producer Dean English, who announced that the new installments will be in the form of feature-length films.

The lack of original writers and even a showrunner is very troubling news, as the previous creative vision is in danger of being disregarded. The show may have had its flaws, but fans would surely want a consistent storyline, considering that Season 2 ended on a cliffhanger.
