Emma Roberts was born into fame, being the daughter of Eric Roberts and niece of Julia Roberts. Growing up surrounded by such mega-stardom would have been challenging, despite the envy she is often the recipient of.
Emma is blonde, beautiful, wealthy, and a talented actress. Those qualities, along with being born into fame, have undoubtedly placed a target on her back for potential haters. Some of these haters have taken to Reddit to express their views on the actress.
Where Did the Accusations of Abuse Come From?
People have cited allegations of Roberts being violent toward ex-partner Evan Peters (another American Horror Story star) when they dated. It is difficult to know what goes on between two people in a private relationship, but what is known is that Roberts was arrested in 2013 for alleged physical abuse inflicted upon Peters. Police were called in response to a domestic dispute between the young couple and found Peters with a bleeding nose. They arrested Roberts as she was apparently uninjured.
Allegations of Mutual Abuse
The media and fans spun into a frenzy hearing this news, but soon more information came to light. It was claimed that Peters was also physically abusive, and the couple were both to blame for the incident. Peters declined to press charges against Roberts, and both have been tight-lipped about the controversy ever since.
Why All the Hate for Emma Roberts?
The allegations of abuse against Evan Peters were not the first thing to prompt nasty comments about the actress. Accusations of nepotism, given her father and aunt are both famous, have run rife throughout the media since she first started acting. And of course, nepotism breeds jealousy, whether it is genuine or merely perceived to exist. But this ignores one key fact that should be obvious to anyone who has seen her work. The fact that Emma Roberts is a brilliant actress.
Some fans accuse her of only being able to play bitchy snob characters, but Roberts has played vastly different roles in and outside of AHS.
At the end of the day, Roberts has never been charged or convicted of any abuse. Therefore, any suggestion that she may be, is only rumor and unproven.
One fan has wisely stated, 'Look, none of us will ever fully know what happened [between Peters and Roberts]… Both have people invested in them and from whatever angle you wanna look at it, there'll be major bias there... hence why it's not our job as fans to investigate this stuff.'
