Kim Cattrall just married longtime partner Russell Thomas, sending social media into a frenzy — and, just like that, Sex and the City fans got the wedding-day Samantha they never expected.

File this under delightful curveballs: Samantha Jones might side-eye wedding fever, but Kim Cattrall clearly does not. She just married her longtime partner, Russell Thomas, and yes, the Internet had a small meltdown seeing Cattrall in full bridal mode.

Kim Cattrall is married (for real, not TV)

Cattrall, 69, tied the knot with Russell Thomas, 55, an audio engineer, in a tiny ceremony at London’s Chelsea Old Town Hall. We’re talking a 12-guest situation — just family, close friends, and zero spectacle. It felt intimate, intentional, and very much their lane.

The vibe (and the wardrobe)

If you felt a whisper of Sex and the City nostalgia, you weren’t imagining it. Cattrall brought in Patricia Field — yes, the legendary SATC costume architect and Emmy winner — to style the day. The look was classic-with-a-wink: a Dior skirt suit, Cornelia James gloves, and a Philip Treacy hat. Thomas matched the energy in a custom black suit with a gold tie, which paired cleanly with her whole polished vibe.

  • Where: Chelsea Old Town Hall, London
  • Guests: 12
  • Her look: Dior skirt suit, Cornelia James gloves, Philip Treacy hat (styled by Patricia Field)
  • His look: Custom black suit with a gold tie
  • The couple: Kim Cattrall, 69; Russell Thomas, 55; he works in audio engineering

How Kim and Russell met

Their origin story is unexpectedly wholesome. They crossed paths in 2016 at the BBC when Cattrall was on Woman’s Hour. They kept in touch. Then Thomas flew out to Vancouver — a bold move considering they’d only shared a couple of meals before that. It worked. They clicked, and they’ve been together ever since. Cattrall summed it up years ago with a very 'we just fit' energy.

"We kind of liked each other, we kept in touch, and then he came out to Vancouver. It was very brave of him because we didn't really know each other other than having a few meals together. But he came, and we got along great, and we've been together ever since!"

"I'm very comfortable around him. He's a firecracker, and he's got a wicked sense of humor. And he's easy on the eyes!"

Yes, fans noticed the SATC echoes

Between the City Hall setting and Patricia Field’s fingerprints all over the outfit, the ceremony felt like a quiet nod to the show without turning it into cosplay. Social media did what social media does: lots of happy noise about Samantha Jones in a wedding look and a flood of congrats.

A quick bit of history

This is Cattrall’s fourth marriage. She was previously married to Larry Davis (1977–1979), architect Andre Lyson (1982–1989), and musician Mark Levinson (1998–2004). This time around, the scale is smaller, the styling is sharp, and the tone is very much two people choosing each other — no big speeches required.
