Scrubs Reboot Confirms Fan Favorites Returning as New Stars Scrub In

Scrubs is scrubbing in more familiar faces and fresh blood, with Variety reporting the reboot has rounded out its cast with nine recurring guests that mix fan-favorite returns with standout newcomers.
Scrubs is officially back in the rotation, and ABC just loaded up the chart with more familiar faces and fresh blood. Yes, the bromance returns. Yes, Sacred Heart is still Sacred Heart. And yes, one particular surgeon who loves a high five is on the call sheet.
Who just scrubbed in
Per the latest casting update, the reboot has nine recurring guest stars. Two are returns you probably guessed, and seven are new additions. The report also lists recent credits for the newcomers, and a couple of those titles look a little typo-happy. I know, I noticed too.
- Returning: Robert Maschio is back as Todd. Gloves up, high fives inevitable.
- Returning: Phill Lewis is back as Hooch. And yes, Hooch is still Hooch.
- New: Vanessa Bayer, from Saturday Night Live, in a recurring role.
- New: Joel Kim Booster, Fire Island, recurring.
- New: Ava Bunn, listed with A Man on the Insider, recurring.
- New: Jacob Dudman, listed with The Choral, recurring.
- New: David Gridley, The Last Ship and The Rookie, recurring.
- New: Layla Mohammadi, listed with The Persvion Version, recurring.
- New: Amanda Morrow, Mirrorland, recurring.
The core is back, and the setup is classic
Zach Braff, Donald Faison, Sarah Chalke, Judy Reyes, and John C. McGinley are leading the reboot, stepping right back into their signature roles at Sacred Heart. The premise is very much the show you remember, aged up in the right ways.
"ABC's new Scrubs will follow JD and Turk, who scrub in together for the first time in a long time - medicine has changed, interns have changed, but their bromance has stood the test of time. Characters new and old navigate the waters of Sacred Heart with laughter, heart, and some surprises along the way."
Behind the curtain
Tim Hobert and Aseem Batra are running the show. They are also executive producing alongside Lawrence, Jeff Ingold, and Liza Katzer.
When can we watch it
ABC has not set a premiere date yet. As soon as it lands, I will have it here. For now, consider the med carts restocked and the nurses station about to get loud.
