Emmy winner Annie Murphy has wrapped All That She Wants, teaming with Cooper Raiff of Cha Cha Real Smooth, and stepping into the lead as Emma, a woman at a pivotal crossroads.

Annie Murphy just wrapped a new romantic comedy called 'All That She Wants,' and the premise is the exact kind of awkward that either ruins your week or changes your life. Cooper Raiff (yep, the 'Cha Cha Real Smooth' guy) co-stars, and the whole thing has some serious pedigree behind the camera too.

What it is

Murphy plays Emma, freshly out of a messy breakup. In a vulnerable moment, she sleeps with a guy named Luke (Raiff). Later, she realizes he is someone she used to babysit. That is a hard pivot from 'meet-cute' to 'oh no,' which, frankly, is a pretty great rom-com setup if they stick the landing.

Who is making it

  • Leads: Annie Murphy as Emma; Cooper Raiff as Luke
  • Directors: Andrew Rhymer and Scarlett Bermingham
  • Writer: David West Read (he wrote on 'Schitt's Creek')
  • Produced by: Ley Line Entertainment, the folks behind 'Everything Everywhere All at Once'
  • Producers: Tim Headington, Theresa Steele Page, Lindsay Tapscott, Katie Bird Nolan, and Lauren Shelton
  • Supporting cast: Zosia Mamet, John Gemberling, Finn Wittrock, Bill Irwin, and Christine Baranski
  • Status: Filming is done in Toronto; the movie is now in post-production

Why this pairing could click

Murphy won an Emmy for Alexis Rose on 'Schitt's Creek,' and the writer here, David West Read, was one of the voices that helped shape that show's mix of compassion and chaos. Seeing them reunite for a feature rom-com that plays with love, age, and timing feels like a natural evolution — less sitcom, more grown-up messiness, without losing the warmth. Add Raiff, who specializes in low-key emotional honesty, and the chemistry could be fun to watch.

While we wait

If you want a reminder of what Murphy does best, 'Schitt's Creek' ran 6 seasons with 80 episodes (plus one special), created by Eugene and Daniel Levy. The main cast includes Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara, Daniel Levy, Annie Murphy, Emily Hampshire, Chris Elliott, and Jennifer Robertson, and it currently sits at an 8.5/10 on IMDb. In the U.S., it is streaming on Hulu and Prime Video.

No word yet on when 'All That She Wants' lands, but with the Toronto shoot wrapped and post underway, updates should not be far off.
