Sam Heughan Gets Candid About His Love Life: Is He Dating Anyone?

Thanks to his breakout role in Starz's hit series Outlander, 43-year-old Sam Heughan has enjoyed Internet crush status for nearly 10 years. The on-screen romance between Jamie and Claire Fraser is as sweet and dreamy as they come, and that's the sort of relationship that every human being desires.

Unfortunately, in real life, Sam Heughan is still looking for a relationship that would come close to the fictional romance he portrays on screen.

'The love that Jamie has for Claire — it would be amazing to find something like that myself,' Heughan told the Inquirer back in 2020.

The actor recently confirmed his single-but-actively-looking status in an interview with People while discussing his new film Love Again, in which he stars opposite Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Céline Dion.

'I've done all of the gift-giving and turning up when least expected, but so far, I'm still looking,' Heughan said when asked what crazy things he's done in the name of love.

Such a romantic confession comes as a surprise to many fans who are used to Heughan's relationship status being kept under wraps. The Outlander star has mostly been silent about his personal life. He has been romantically linked to actresses MacKenzie Mauzy and Amy Shiels and model Monika Clarke, but no details of the relationships have ever been revealed.

In the interview with the Inquirer, Heughan shared that it is not so easy to find a relationship while being an in-demand actor.

'Certainly, relationships are hard when you're working in Scotland 10 months a year,' he said. 'I travel a lot and any downtime I have, I'm trying to do other projects, so very much, my career comes first.'

However, in an interview with Drew Barrymore last year, Heughan said that he never actually prioritized work over his love life.

'I'm open to something. I'm not sure what I'm saying I'm open for, but I'm open,' he added.

It seems that the Hollywood heartthrob is looking for someone really special, a true soulmate for him. Unfortunately, Heughan hasn't given us instructions on how to become that special someone, but we hope that the love of his life doesn't need a guide to prove that she is the One.
