Despite a wildfire of fan theories and tabloid whispers, Stranger Things breakout Sadie Sink hasn’t confirmed a single romance; even the Patrick Alwyn chatter fizzled, and for now she looks decidedly single.

Sadie Sink may be a tabloid magnet, but the reality is a lot less dramatic than the internet wants it to be. The Stranger Things standout keeps her personal life locked down, and despite a handful of buzzy pairings over the years, none of it has ever been confirmed. As of now, she looks single.

The Patrick Alwyn rumor that lit up the timeline

Back in September 2021, fans in New York City spotted Sink hanging out with Patrick Alwyn, who happens to be Joe Alwyn's younger brother. That sighting shot across social media, and suddenly people were fantasizing about double dates with Taylor Swift, Joe Alwyn, Sadie, and Patrick. Cute idea, sure. Actual evidence of dating? Not really.

Neither Sink nor Patrick said anything about it, and it could have been nothing more than two people spending time together. Given how private she is, the silence makes sense.

The rumor mill, condensed

  • Finn Wolfhard (2022): A TikTok-fueled wave tried to ship the Stranger Things co-stars. Nicki Swift traced the chatter back to TikTok, and it fizzled fast, partly because Wolfhard was reportedly dating actress Elsie Richter at the time.
  • Caleb McLaughlin: Another TikTok special. Onscreen chemistry does its job, and people connect dots that are not there. Offscreen, they have kept it strictly friendly. As Sink put it when talking about their first on-camera kiss back in 2017:
"I mean, of course, I was nervous because it's a first kiss, right? But I never objected to it or felt pushed into anything, and if I felt uncomfortable with anything, I wouldn't have done it."
  • Dylan O'Brien: The pairing rumors spiked after they played a couple in Taylor Swift's All Too Well short film/music video (the 10-minute Red-era version). Press and fans connected dots; nobody involved ever confirmed or denied anything.

What Sadie has said about love, for real

In All Too Well (inspired by Swift's past relationship with Jake Gyllenhaal), Sink plays a young woman swept up in a relationship with an older guy and then picking through the aftermath. Powerful performance, especially considering what she told Variety in 2024:

"At that point, I had never been in love. I had never been through a breakup that intense. It was all foreign territory for me."

How did she get there emotionally? She joked that she leaned on her own Swift fandom:

"I relied on just my years of research as a Swiftie."

So where does that leave things?

Sink is 23, keeps her dating life out of view, and has never publicly confirmed a relationship. The rest is fan speculation, occasionally fun, often flimsy. If she ever decides to make something official, we will hear it from her, not from a blurry NYC sidewalk sighting.
