One is all about raw shard drop rate, the other pays out more in cash and XP while you grind. Here is the clean version without the fluff.
What Miner Shards actually do
Miner Shards are Runes you socket into your pickaxe slots to give it specific traits. Depending on the shard, you can boost Mine Power, Yield, Luck, or Swift Mining. The trait strength shows up as a percentage, and once you have the shards you want, you take them to the Runemaker to slot them in for a not-small fee. These things are tough to find, which is why these two farms matter.
If you only care about shards per hour, do the Stonewake cave run. If you want money and XP too, hunt Bombers in the Forgotten Kingdom.

Stonewake's Cross cave: Delver Zombies
Head to the Cave on Stonewake's Cross and wipe out every Delver Zombie you can find. They look like miners and hang out deeper in the cave, especially in the Inner Cave and Deep Cave sections. Each Delver has a 1/35 shot to drop a Miner Shard.
Clear the regular zombies too. It helps Delvers spawn more often, and it juices your overall loot intake. This run works best if you can delete Delvers in seconds, so do not try it underpowered. The Angel Race gives you a nice mobility bump for this route, but it is not mandatory.
Why this run rules: clearing every corner of the Stonewake cave is straight-up the fastest, easiest way to stack shards. If you grab a Rune with the Luck trait, that trait itself boosts rare drop chances, which can snowball your haul. Keep grinding and you will fill your Personal Stash with Miner Shards faster than any other spot.

Forgotten Kingdom: Bomber Skeletons in the Ashen Passage
Travel to the Forgotten Kingdom and work the Ashen Passage. Bomber Skeletons here have a 1/15 chance to drop Miner Shards. They are the only enemies on this island that drop these Runes, so prioritize them and kill them before they blow.
While you are at it, clean up their skeleton buddies. This route is tilted toward farming XP, Cash, and Essence alongside shards, and you will probably make more money than shards per hour here. Heads-up: Bombers also have a 1/10 chance to drop Blast Chips, which is great for loot variety but slows your shard count a bit.
Bottom line: slower shard rate than Stonewake, but a better all-around grind if you want currency and XP with your Runes.

Once you have the traits you want (watch those percentage rolls), go to the Runemaker and slot them into your pickaxe. It costs a hefty amount, so bring your wallet.
