DC fans are already firing off their dream picks for The Batman 2 villains after Robert Pattinson teased he likes "all the really fantastical ones."

DC Twitter/Reddit did what it does best: dug up an old clip, and now everyone is fantasy-casting The Batman 2 again. If you missed it, the resurfaced interview has Robert Pattinson talking villains, which is a fun thought exercise while we wait the very long wait for the actual sequel.

What Pattinson wants to fight

In the clip, Pattinson says his Batman would love to tangle with Mr. Freeze and Clayface in future movies. He also tosses out his general taste for the big, weird stuff:

"I like all the really fantastical ones."

Now, yes, Matt Reeves has built a grimy, grounded Gotham that leans hard on street-level crime over sci-fi. So the more 'out there' rogues might need a reality-check makeover. But it is Batman — reinvention is kind of the point.

The fan wishlist (and what might actually fly)

  • Mr. Freeze: The most popular pick. Fans want him 'done right' — which in this world probably means more tragic cryogenics noir, less ice puns.
  • Clayface: Complicated. A Clayface movie is already in development over in James Gunn's separate DCU, which has people doubting Reeves would also use him. That said, recent set photos have fans whispering about a possible connection to the Reeves-verse, so the door is at least cracked for speculation.
  • Hugo Strange: A clean fit for this Gotham — a creepy, unethical mastermind works fine without superpowers or sci-fi.
  • Court of Owls: Several fans pitched them as the endgame for a third film. Secret society, institutional rot, conspiracies — that lines up neatly with the corruption-and-secrecy themes Reeves is already playing with.

The inside-baseball nod you might have missed

If you watched The Penguin, you probably clocked Eve Karlo, Oz's love interest. Some fans read her as a grounded wink at Clayface — she shares a last name with one Clayface iteration, and there is that memorable beat where she dresses as Oz's mother. It plays like a metaphorical 'shape-shifter' in a world that does not do literal goo monsters. Very Reeves.

Where the sequel actually stands

The Batman hit theaters in March 2022. A sequel got the greenlight a month later, then stalled out thanks to a pileup of delays. Cameras are not scheduled to roll until January 2026. The Batman 2 is currently dated for October 1, 2027. Yes, that is a long runway — plenty of time for everyone to keep arguing about which villain should show up and how weird Reeves is willing to get.

Meanwhile, the DCU is doing its own thing under Gunn, with more movies and shows on the way — including that Clayface project the internet keeps side-eyeing for crossover potential. Different universes, messy vibes, same fandom energy.
