Rick and Morty’s President Curtis Spin-Off Finally Sets Its Release Window

Rick and Morty is spinning off one of its best recurring players, and yes, you will see him this year. President Curtis is stepping out of the main show and into his own series, with Keith David confirming the release window at last. It has been a long road from Comic-Con chatter to something you can actually circle on the calendar, but we got there.

Keith David says the President Curtis spin-off will arrive "later on this year." That is the first real timing update since Adult Swim officially greenlit the show at San Diego Comic-Con 2025. Translation: 2026 just got busier for this universe.

Those are David's words, and if you have been waiting for this character to keep his particular blend of swagger and exasperation, that tracks.

What the show actually is

The premise flips the usual point of view: while Rick and Morty charge off after whatever cosmic disaster amuses them, President Curtis deals with the crises they do not. It is a new angle on the same sandbox, with the Commander in Chief handling the fallout and the weirdness that piles up when your planet keeps getting almost-destroyed.

Who is behind it

Dan Harmon co-created the series with James Siciliano, who started on Rick and Morty as a writer's assistant back in season 3 and worked his way up to writer and executive producer. Keith David, a three-time Emmy winner who first popped up in season 2's Get Schwifty, is back as Curtis. He is joined by Jim Rash and Stephanie Beatriz, which is a sharp pair to have in the Situation Room.

How it fits into the larger plan

This is the third Rick and Morty offshoot to make it to air after the 10-episode Vindicators 2 in 2022 and the anime that dropped in late 2024. Neither of those got a second season. Meanwhile, Rick and Morty season 9 is expected in fall 2026. If the network feels bold, they could stack the spin-off and season 9 close together and ride a months-long wave of Harmon-flavored chaos.
