Remember These? 5 Dropped Yellowstone Storylines That Still Haunt Us
Yellowstone may be great, but the writing is pretty flawed.
This November, we will finally see the second part of Yellowstone's Season 5, bringing the epic of the Dutton family and their ranch to a close. Fans are incredibly curious about what's going to happen to the Duttons in the finale, but many are also worried about how consistent the conclusion of their arcs will be.
And in fact, viewers have a good reason to be concerned about Yellowstone's consistency, as the previous seasons have left us with quite a number of plot holes. Let's take a look at five storylines that Yellowstone dropped without giving them proper development.
5. Dan Jenkins' arc ended prematurely
While this character's storyline was given an ending, many fans felt that the writers simply got bored with it so they decided to drop it. Dan Jenkins was one of the show's most likable villains, so his sudden death came as a shock to viewers. Many would have liked to see him as John's rival for the governorship of Montana, allied with Jamie.
4. A high-profile attack had no media coverage
Season 3 ended with a shocking cliffhanger, making us wonder if Beth had survived. In the previous episode, she was targeted by unknown assailants when an explosion occurred in her office. The problem is that this event was never explored in the next season. Any local terrorist attack gets a lot of media coverage, but the incident was completely ignored by Montana reporters.
3. Kayce's bomb was forgotten
In the penultimate episode of Season 2, Kayce snuck into a hangar to plant a bomb in the fuel tank of a private jet owned by the Becks. Both Kayce and his brother John were killed, which means there is still a plane flying somewhere with a bomb on board.
2. John's helicopter went missing
Remember the private helicopter at the Duttons' ranch that John used to travel between his territories? The last time it appeared, along with its pilot, Viggo, was in the penultimate episode of Season 1, and it has not been mentioned in any way in the show since.
1. What's with the dinosaur bones?
In the first season, Kayce and Tate discovered a dinosaur skeleton on the ranch, but this fascinating storyline ended almost immediately when a random treasure hunter stole the bones. While some thought it was a metaphor for the dangers and injustices faced by the residents of reservations, other fans believed the writers simply forgot about the storyline. Imagine if the bones are featured again in the finale?
