Reddit Comes Up with Perfect Cersei Advice to Rhaenyra
Of course, the two will never meet – not even in the fantasy world they inhabit.
But when a Reddit post asked for advice from Cersei Lannister to Rhaenyra Targaryen, users obliged with some decent suggestions.
Keep it in the family – Ok, so this is more of a Targaryen thing anyway. But there's no doubt Cersei's favourite lover was Jaime.
Simply deny your bastards – Easy. Until you get caught out. But, hey, fake it for as long as you can.
Don't marry Daemon – Of course, Cersei would tell Rhaenyra not to marry Daemon.
Because she'd want him for herself. Of course, this goes against Cersei's own advice to keep it in the family. But did anyone ever suggest Cersei Lannister had morals?
Drink wine – Always. It makes the day easier.
Be violent – Rule by fear. It's the only way.
Manipulate people to get what you want – While Cersei never quite seemed to get anything quite right, she was at least aware that manipulation was a powerful weapon. She just never had her father's knack for it. Good advice nonetheless.
If a dirty old man in a robe seems like a convenient way to get rid of your enemies just don't – One of the best examples of when Cersei thought she had it all sussed but found herself screwed over by her own machinations.
Don't leave King's Landing – Naturally, the term 'rightful heir' was bandied about an awful lot in Game of Thrones. It was, after all, what the whole show was about. And while Cersei was never really the rightful heir, she'd no doubt tell Rhaenyra to stand her ground in King's Landing and keep hold of what she's got at all costs. Because you never really know what's going to happen when you move on to the next place.
Same line she gave Ned in season 1 'When you play the Game of Thrones, you win, or you die. There is no middle ground' – Never was a truer word spoken about the quest for the Iron Throne.
'The best weapon is the one between your legs' – Again, an apt description of the balance of power in Westeros.
Burn them all – I mean, it's something the Targaryens can generally do more efficiently than most.
Don't trust anyone – Perhaps, this is the single best piece of advice she could give to anybody with designs on the throne. Because, in the end, everyone with even the slightest hint of power is only in it for themselves.
