5. Rebecca's eulogy
This is absolutely brilliant writing. When Rebecca told her mother that she hated her for allowing her father to cheat on her, the direction of the scene was far from obvious.
It was an emotional moment for both of them and Rebecca was clearly struggling to come to terms with the truth. It was funny and sad at the same time as she welled up while singing Never Gonna Give You Up. But Ted was there to support her. And the congregation joining in with the song was something that was as heart-wrenching as it was plain silly.
4. When Roy quit Sky Sports
Nostalgia has a funny way of getting into your heart and finding a way to rule your head. It's something we've all experienced, and the pain on Roy's face as he looked at the TV screen that showed him what he was missing was beautifully portrayed by Brett Goldstein. The climactic moment when he removed his microphone and walked out of the studio was just the icing on the cake.
3. Thank you and f**k you
That's family for you. This scene must have struck a chord with everyone who watched it. From Ted's knowledge that his mum clearly had something to say to him, to the smile and hug they shared at the end, it was the stresses and strains of life in a single moment that rang true and was enough to make even the most Roy Kent of us blub.
2. Ted opens up about his dad
When we learned that Ted found his father's body following a gunshot at the age of 16, we kind of knew this scene was going to be heavy. In his therapy session, the confusion, anger, rage and repressed emotions that no doubt made millions of fans cry ugly came flooding out. He then asked if he would be charged for the session and was told, 'Of course you are'. It was a perfect ending to the scene.
1. When Jamie punched his dad and Roy hugged him
From the moment Jamie's dad walked into the dressing room and started berating him, it was clear that something was going to go off. And when Jamie lashed out and actually hit his dad, the dressing room fell silent. Awkward looks and uncertainty followed. Until Roy stepped in and hugged a still shocked Jamie. Surely it was a scene that got everyone right in the feels.
