Who is on the lookout for new young talent in the Bridgerverse?

Casting for a prequel is always a difficult task, as the characters already have their unique looks, personality traits, speech patterns, and behaviors — and the audience loves them for that.

This means that the casting department has to find actors who not only look like the younger versions of the established characters, but can also capture their personalities.

Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story is a perfect example of spot-on casting. Fans can't get over how smoothly the new actors blended in with the Bridgerton cast, taking after the older actors in terms of their looks, voices, and mannerisms. At the same time, the new cast members didn't lose themselves and were able to show off their individual acting talents.

Here's who played older and younger versions of the same characters:

  • Queen Charlotte: Golda Rosheuvel and India Amarteifio
  • Lady Danbury: Adjoa Andoh and Arsema Thomas
  • Lady Violet Bridgerton: Ruth Gemmell and Connie Jenkins-Greig
  • King George: James Fleet and Corey Mylchreest
  • Brimsley: Hugh Sachs and Sam Clemmett

'I loved all of the casting choices, they did what they needed to do in that department,' a fan wrote on Reddit to the agreement of others.

Fans are sure that the casting team for Queen Charlotte deserves an award for the perfect job they've done on the project.

But who are these brilliant people with superhuman casting radar? Not surprisingly, Queen Charlotte's casting directors came from Bridgerton.

Cole Edwards is known for such popular shows as Brave New World, Line of Duty, and The Innocents. Kelly Valentine Hendry is something of a legend in the casting world — she runs KVH Casting and is credited as the casting director for over 100 projects, the most popular of which are Broadchurch, Gangs of London, and Fleabag.

In an interview for Televisual, Hendry described how the casting for Queen Charlotte took place.

'We work as a team,' she said. 'We are incredibly supported by everyone at Shondaland and Netflix. We are given clear briefs and we talk at length about the qualities they are looking for. Then myself and the co-casting director Cole Edwards and my team are unleashed to the world and we go hunting for the best person for the job as per their brief.'

She added that the Shondaland team is fun to work with and always open to new casting ideas, allowing for some twists and turns. As for the final decision on who will be the next Bridgerverse heartthrob, it is never made by one person.

'Ultimately it is not my decision but we do not stop until we think that we have shown the best,' Hendry explained.

Undoubtedly, it is the top-notch teamwork and attention to detail that makes all Bridgerverse content unique and loved by audiences worldwide.
