Some fans feel that Queen Charlotte's romantic wedding scene is a slap in the face for all Bridgerton viewers.

The Bridgerton spinoff is out, and Bridgerton universe fans are glued to their screens, binge-watching the story of young Charlotte as she navigates her marriage to the new King of Great Britain and establishes the revolutionary social norms of the London ton along the way.

Although viewers praise the main storyline of the prequel for its romantic nature and beautiful execution, there are those who feel shortchanged while watching it. Here's why.

Season 2 of Bridgerton, which revolves around the love story of Anthony Bridgerton and Kate Sharma, became a revelation for many viewers. The army of fans shipping Kate and Anthony, or Kanthony, grew to millions within days. This was due to the couple's undeniable chemistry, palpable and almost feral unresolved sexual tension, and a well-developed enemies-to-lovers trope.

However, the Kanthony season had several subplots unrelated to the main characters and a significant love triangle storyline with a failed wedding between Anthony and Edwina Sharma, Kate's sister, that took up an entire episode. All these stories reduced the actual interaction between Anthony and Kate to a minimum.

When the two finally accepted their feelings for each other and agreed to be together, there was just enough screen time left to show a few scenes of their happy honeymoon and nothing else. The fans didn't even get to see the Kanthony wedding, much to their frustration.

That's why, while watching the majestic scene of Queen Charlotte and King George's wedding in the very first episode of the prequel, some Kanthony fans felt deprived of potentially heartwarming moments between their favourite characters.

'Shonda really did Kanthony so so so dirty,' a frustrated fan wrote on Reddit. 'The cinematography and just [aura of Charlotte and George's] wedding scene is stunning. We were so robbed.'

Clearly, Shondaland is more than capable of creating a perfect romantic scene, but drama always takes precedence over happy developments. Some fans are still hoping to catch a glimpse of the Kanthony wedding in flashback scenes during Season 3. However, with a new love story and even more subplots unfolding, it is highly unlikely.

It seems that, from now on, Kanthony fans will have to settle for occasional glimpses of married life between the Viscount and Viscountess Bridgerton.
