Queen Charlotte Characters vs Their Bridgerton Counterparts: Side by Side Comparison
'You can't convince me they're different ppl.'
Fans of Bridgerton who eagerly awaited the launch of Queen Charlotte were not disappointed when the new show aired on Netflix.
Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story takes us back to the early days of the relationship between the titular character and her husband, King George III, and one thing that seems to have impressed many fans is the casting of younger versions of characters from the original show.
Indeed, one Redditor 'couldn't stop thinking about how they found the perfect matches to play the younger characters the entire time I was watching the show'.
So, let's have a look at how some of the most popular characters from both shows look when their older and younger selves are put side by side for comparison:
Queen Charlotte
You could well believe that India Amarteifio (young Charlotte) and Golda Rosheuvel (older Charlotte) are related. They have similar eyes, similar noses and a similar face shape. Or to put it another way, they look broadly similar. Certainly, had someone shown you a photo of Amarteifio before you'd seen her as Princess Charlotte and told you it was a young Golda Rosheuvel, you'd probably have believed them.
King George III
While the appearance of young George (played by Corey Mylchreest) and the depiction of the character played by James Fleet in Bridgerton, is not quite as striking, the casting genuinely works. In the original series, the king is in the grip of illness. In Queen Charlotte he's young and newly crowned. The younger version displays a regal posture that is still evident – if a little jaded – with the older King George III.
Lady Danbury
Adjoa Andoh (Bridegrton) and Arsema Thomas (Queen Charlotte) both play Lady Danbury with a steely noble appearance. Naturally, Andoh's iteration of the character is slightly more distinguished. But, once again, the resemblance is clear, and Thomas looks as though she could easily be a younger version of the same person.
Violet Bridgerton/Ledger
Not yet the formidable woman we know from Ruth Gemmel's portrayal of her in Bridgerton, Violet Ledger (as she was then) is fresh-faced when we meet her in Queen Charlotte. But her face shape, eyes and hair make it perfectly believable at these two characters are one and the same.
Brimsley
The hair, the face shape (in particular the nose) and the way young Brimsley (played by Sam Clemmett) carries himself, are reminiscent of the fabulous portrayal of the older (slightly portlier) Brimsley played by Hugh Sachs.
All in all, the casting for Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story has been widely praised. Or, as one Reddit user wrote, 'The casting really is phenomenal. You can't convince me they're different ppl.'
