The eagerly awaited Queen Charlotte prequel has arrived, and it’s time to get some answers to one of the series biggest mysteries.

The long-awaited prequel has finally arrived. There’s no doubt that fans are eager to dive into the Queen’s past and follow her love story with King George, but that’s not all there is to look forward to.

Like all the Bridgerton seasons, the prequel centers around a romantic relationship, but there is another important relationship in the Queen’s life that fans are dying to know more about, and this mini-series will hold many of the answers they’re been waiting for.

The big question is:

How did Lady Danbury become such an important and trusted figure in the Queen’s life?

Bridgerton has never given away more than it has to about their relationship, and about Lady Danbury for that matter. The exchanges between the pair make it obvious that they have known each other for a long time, but we don’t know how long. Lady Danbury is the only person that the Queen treats like an equal, and she trusts more than anyone else, even though she is surrounded by friends and confidants, why is this?

The trailer for Queen Charlotte gave some much-anticipated answers, with a young Lady Danbury revealed to be acting as the Queen’s Lady-in-Waiting and a key part of her moving to England. The trailer shows her giving the Queen advice, acting as a supportive figure, and more importantly, a friend. There is certainly more to be explored, but this small peek into their relationship origins

Following Julia Quinn’s novels, each Bridgerton season has primarily focused on one romantic relationship. Season 1 was about Simon and Daphne and their faux relationship- turned-passionate romance, Season 2 followed Anthony and Kate as they both had to put aside their stubbornness and open up to one another (whilst in an awkward triangle with Kate’s sister). Season 3 will follow Penelope and Colin, and of course, Queen Charlotte will follow the love story of the King and Queen.

Romance may be the star of each season, but the exciting, flirtatious, and scandalous sub-plots involving the other Bridgerton characters have proved to be just as captivating, with the friendship origin story of Lady Danbury and Queen Charlotte being one of the most anticipated sub-plots to date.

With the prequel going back in time, we can’t help but wonder what young Lady Danbury is like, did she always carry the same no-nonsense attitude and sharp tongue?

Friendship is a pretty prominent theme in the Bridgerton series, but it can be easily lost at times amid the flirting, sex, and scandals in the series, and we can’t help but look forward to seeing the origin story of the bond between two Briderton Matriarchs, and the history between them that led to their shared sharp quips and witty exchanges, proof of a friendship that has lasted half a lifetime, and the time has finally come.
