Prime Video just scooped up The Creator, the Academy Award-nominated sci-fi action stunner from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story director Gareth Edwards and starring John David Washington—now streaming two years after its Disney+ and Hulu debut.

Gareth Edwards’ glossy sci-fi war movie The Creator just jumped streamers again. Two years after it first landed on Disney+ and Hulu, the 20th Century Studios film is now streaming on Prime Video. Yes, a Disney-owned title now cozying up on Amazon. Sure, why not.

The hook (and the twist)

"Amidst a future war between the human race and the forces of artificial intelligence, Joshua, a hardened ex-special forces agent grieving the disappearance of his wife, is recruited to hunt down and kill the Creator, the elusive architect of advanced AI who has developed a mysterious weapon with the power to end the war... and mankind itself. Joshua and his team of elite operatives journey across enemy lines, into the dark heart of AI-occupied territory... only to discover the world-ending weapon he’s been instructed to destroy is an AI in the form of a young child."

That’s the studio line, and the AI-as-a-kid reveal is the movie’s big emotional swing. If you missed it in theaters or on its first streaming run, this one is more about mood and world-building than quippy banter, and it looks fantastic.

Who made it (and the eyebrow-raising credit)

It’s from Gareth Edwards, the Rogue One director who also did Godzilla. The studio blurb also tags him with something called Jurassic World Rebirth, which is… a curious credit to see pop up here, to put it gently.

Bottom line

If you’re in the mood for a big, original sci-fi world with an actual budget behind it, The Creator is an easy add to your watchlist on Prime Video right now. And if you’re keeping score at home: Disney movie, Amazon platform, timing that’s being called two years later. The streaming landscape remains delightfully messy.
