From the lips of Julia Quinn herself, Season 3 will include more lines from the novel.

Bridgerton Season 3 is set for release later this year or early next year, which has given fans plenty of time to think about what may come next for the glamorous, Regency-era cast. So far, it has been confirmed that Colin and Penelope will be the protagonists of the will-they-won't-they love story, but fans are worried about how far the upcoming season will stray from the original novels.

Many Kanthony fans were left disappointed by what they felt was too little focus on the main couple in Season 2, along with the plot veering too far from the novels by adding characters and adding unnecessary drama and subplots. For one Reddittor Season 2 'deviated from the books so much and gave us a triangle nobody asked for.'

Naturally, fans were concerned that the same was going to happen with Season 3 but lucky for them, it seems that's not the case.

One of Julia Quinn's comments received a lot of positive feedback from fans.

Many fans feel that the showrunners have chosen to follow the original story more closely because of negative feedback from Season 2.

'While I like Polin and want their season to do well so we can be ensured more seasons, and while it's nice that this means the showrunners are taking feedback, it's unfortunate because one of the couples suffered for it,' admits the Redditor.

Season 3 will follow the story of the 4th novel, Romancing Mister Bridgerton, in which Colin begins to realize his attraction for Penelope, having previously hurt her with his disinterest and negative remarks to fellow gentlemen. Fans are hoping to see Penelope stand up more for herself and value herself, turning the tables on Colin to make him work for her affection.

There is hope of reconciliation for Kanthony fans too, as the couple will feature in Season 3, and whilst they will not be in the spotlight, their characters will still be going through some major growth and changes that possibly include becoming parents.

Shondaland has done an exceptional job and has been praised highly for the adaptation of the novels, from the inclusion of a diverse cast across the board, to straying away from some of the stereotypical romance plots of the 20-something-year-old novels, and of course, heightening the drama by changing the plot just enough to create added tension and suspense.

It's important to remember that Bridgerton is an adaptation, which means changes will always be made, but sometimes too much change is a bad thing, which is why fans are excited for a Season 3 that closely follows the book.
