Reddit user Emeraldsinger dropped a full-on movie blueprint set around Greece, with Atlantis as the prize and more legacy characters than Comic-Con weekend. The gist:

• Angelica (Penelope Cruz, last seen in On Stranger Tides) has swiped the Queen Anne's Revenge and teams up with the French Empire to hunt for Atlantis, which supposedly grants control over the wind and tide.
• Jack Sparrow's old crew accidentally nicks a mask tied to the god Ares — and that mask happens to be the map to Atlantis.
• Angelica nabs Will Turner and plans to sacrifice him at Ares' altar. That pulls Elizabeth Swann, their son Henry Turner, Carina Smyth, and Bootstrap Bill back into the fight.
• They track down a worn-out Jack and drag him into the rescue mission, because of course they do.
• In Atlantis, a repentant Davy Jones shows up and helps the heroes take down Angelica and the French.
• The ending swings for full-circle: after years dodging fate, Jack accepts the helm of the Flying Dutchman. He gets immortality — and the curse to sail forever.

As pitches go, it is surprisingly clean: a mythic MacGuffin, a familiar rogues gallery, and a final chapter that actually feels like an ending.

Does Johnny Depp even want back in?

During the high-profile defamation trial, Depp said he would not return to Pirates, no matter the paycheck. More recently, on a red carpet in November 2025 — Entertainment Tonight asked him about stepping into Captain Jack again at the premiere of the film Modi — he was brief and, honestly, a little eyebrow-raising.

That'd be fun.

He left it there, no follow-up. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer has kept up the hopeful talk too, the kind of sunny assurance that makes fans think another voyage might actually happen.

Why this pitch feels like a real ending

It smartly gathers the franchise's scattered pieces. Barbossa already got a send-off in Dead Men Tell No Tales when he sacrificed himself for his daughter, Carina. The open question

Fan theory or not, this is one of the better endgame paths for Pirates 6. The only thing it cannot answer is the obvious one: does Depp actually climb back into the boots?
