Demigods drop in: Percy Jackson and the Olympians hits Fortnite for a special event before Season 2 streams on Disney+.

Fortnite is not done raiding your bookshelf. After crossovers with The Simpsons and Kill Bill, the next guest showing up on the island is Percy Jackson. And the timing is very on-brand.

Disney announced during a CCXP Brazil panel in Sao Paulo that a Percy Jackson event is hitting Fortnite on December 9 — one day before Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 premieres on December 10. It is called Percy Jackson: Siege of Monsters, and yes, it leans hard into the mythology.

"Seeing Percy Jackson and The Olympians within Fortnite has been a dream come true for us," co-showrunner and executive producer Dan Shotz said. "Players will be able to fully immerse themselves into our expanding world as they get claimed by an Olympian god, embark on an epic quest and fight iconic monsters from the Percy Jackson universe. Everything in Percy Jackson: Siege of Monsters was built with such incredible detail to honor our series on Disney+ as well as book readers around the world. I hope fans have as much fun exploring this world as we did bringing the series to life."

Here is how this crossover is set up: Epic built an island map modeled on Camp Half-Blood. You drop in as a newly arrived demigod, get claimed, get your cabin assignment, unlock abilities, and gear up for a boss-level showdown with Scylla and Charybdis on the Sea of Monsters. It is very much a Percy-flavored slice of Fortnite, not just a couple of skins tossed into the shop.

  • Start date: December 9 (announced by Disney at CCXP Brazil in Sao Paulo), landing a day before Season 2 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians drops on Disney+ December 10
  • Mode/map: An island inspired by Camp Half-Blood, with cabins, god-claiming, and demigod abilities
  • Main threat: A climactic fight against Scylla and Charybdis on the Sea of Monsters
  • Playable faces: Percy Jackson, Annabeth Chase, and Grover Underwood are featured
  • Extras: Side quests and minigames pulled from Seasons 1 and 2 of the series
  • Trailer teases: A Minotaur fight that looks like a boss encounter (the kind that rewards a special power when you win), plus a massive sea creature that can swat you into oblivion

As far as synergy goes, this is a clean play: drop a fully themed island the day before a new season and let Fortnite do the marketing heavy lifting. If you are into the books or the show, this sounds like the most faithful version of a brand tie-in Fortnite has done in a while. And if you are just here to bonk a Minotaur and dodge sea monsters, that works too.
