Google’s Year in Search 2025 crowns Pedro Pascal the most-searched name in the United States after a blitz of buzzworthy roles — and even an old name-drop from his past is back making waves.

Pedro Pascal has basically been everywhere, and apparently, everyone noticed. Google says he was the most-searched person in the U.S. for 2025, which checks out when you look at how busy he’s been. But my favorite Pascal story from this run isn’t about a premiere or a box office stat. It’s about the time his best friend made his job absolute chaos.

When Oscar Isaac was Pascal’s funniest nightmare

Back in 2004, Pascal and Oscar Isaac did a stage play called 'Beauty of the Father.' Isaac played the ghost of poet Federico Garcia Lorca. Only the lead could see him; everyone else on stage had to act like he wasn’t there. You can probably guess where this is going.

According to Pascal, Isaac would slide into the edges of everyone’s sightlines mid-scene and try to crack them up while they delivered Serious Theater Dialogue. It became a running war of wills between staying in character and not laughing at your buddy pulling faces two feet away.

'It was a nightmare. You’re just doing this super serious scene, and then you start to feel his face just coming up right over here.'

Nightmare for the moment, sure. But if you can hold it together through that, you can handle pretty much anything. Look at Pascal’s career now.

From stage shenanigans to full-on bromance

That play kicked off a friendship that never really slowed down. They reunited on screen in 2019’s 'Triple Frontier' after both had already blown up, which only fueled the inevitable comparisons and the running joke that they’re Hollywood’s favorite duo.

Instead of dodging it, they leaned in. Pascal has posted cuddly buddy pics on Instagram, the kind of thing you almost never see from A-list guys. And when Esquire asked about their dynamic in 2022, Isaac went full deadpan about Pascal’s devotion. Pascal, for his part, basically said: yeah, I’m always going to show up for the guy.

It’s goofy, it’s warm, and it’s a nice break from the usual macho nonsense.

Pascal’s 2025 streak (and yes, the internet noticed)

Per Google’s Year in Search 2025, Pascal was the most-searched name in the U.S. Not shocking given he popped up everywhere again this year. On the film side: 'Eddington,' 'Materialists,' and a Marvel turn in 'The Fantastic Four: First Steps.' On TV, he was back for 'The Last of Us' Season 2. He actually did more movies in 2024 than in 2025, but the demand clearly hasn’t dipped.

What’s next

His calendar isn’t getting lighter. 2026 has him straddling two mega-franchises, with another project waiting in the wings. Dates and titles can always move, but here’s what’s currently on deck:

  • The Mandalorian and Grogu — Jon Favreau — 2026 — Lucasfilm
  • Avengers: Doomsday — Anthony Russo, Joe Russo — 2026 — Marvel Studios/AGBO
  • Behemoth! — Tony Gilroy — TBA — Searchlight Pictures

Long story short: Pascal is still everywhere, Isaac is still the chaos goblin in his periphery, and I hope they keep teaming up forever. Thoughts on their extremely wholesome friendship? Drop them below.
