Her read on it was clear: the DCU has multiple threads in play, and even though the projects connect, they are being built as standalone stories that do not require homework.

"Because of that, the potential of Season 3 of Peacemaker kind of revolves around things that might happen before it... We’ll see what happens."

Holland also nudged fans to keep an eye on a few DCU titles that, in her words, carry real weight for the big picture: Supergirl, Lanterns, and Man of Tomorrow. She teased those projects as having "major ramifications for the universe."

Gunn has been consistent: character first, season later (maybe)

Months before Holland's update, James Gunn was asked about a third season and said he was not planning one at the moment, emphasizing that Peacemaker's story is folding into other DCU plans rather than rushing back to Season 3.

"No, this is about the wider DCU and other stories in which this will play out right now. That doesn't mean that there won't be. I don't want to never say never, but right now, no, this is about the future of the DCU. It's an important character."

Later, on Peacemaker: The Official Podcast, Gunn underlined that the character is not disappearing, even if the next chapter is not called 'Peacemaker Season 3.'

"Peacemaker will be back. As this TV show? We'll see exactly what form."

"We have plans, but you'll see all these characters in the future of the DCU, and not too long."
