HBO Max drops a bomb in Peacemaker Season 2 Episode 7: a major character falls as John Cena’s 11th Street Kids scramble through Earth-X, the nightmare timeline where the Axis powers won.

Peacemaker just dropped Season 2, Episode 7 on HBO Max, and yeah, that was a big one. Alternate realities, Nazi world, family drama, and a death that actually lands. If you were thinking the Earth-X detour was just a quick weird flex, nope — it blows up everything.

Quick reset: why Earth-X matters

Peacemaker and the 11th Street Kids have been stuck on Earth-X, an alternate timeline where the Axis powers won World War II. Translation: this world is soaked in fascist ideology, and most people are openly awful. The twist? Chris was starting to warm to the idea of staying, mostly because his dad Auggie is alive here. That was already a messy emotional setup — and then the show kicked the floor out from under it.

The episode: 'Like a Keith in the Night'

The headline is simple: Auggie Smith dies. The way it happens is not.

On this Earth, Robert Patrick’s Auggie is surprisingly decent to the Earth-1 crew. He even considers sending them back, which does not go over well with Keith — the Earth-X version of Chris’s brother. Then Emilia Harcourt (Jennifer Holland) calls Auggie out for still being a Nazi guy at heart. He denies it and launches into a speech about how he fought for what was right in smaller ways but never challenged the core rot of his society. The show clearly wants you to see him as one of the rare good ones in a bad place. The problem: he still didn’t really push back against the regime. Even with powers, he mostly... existed within it.

And before he can finish defending himself, Vigilante (Freddie Stroma) comes blasting in — teamed up with his Earth-X counterpart and a chunk of the 11th Street Kids — and stabs Auggie. It’s framed like a rescue for Chris and Emilia. Whether they needed rescuing is debatable.

"I don’t think he was a Nazi. He wasn’t a Nazi."

That’s Chris, over his father’s body, spinning out. Then Keith attacks him, and Chris’s teammates nearly finish Keith off — until Chris stops them. He breaks down, apologizes to his brother, and chooses to go home. Emilia tries to execute Keith before they leave, but cops shut it down. Keith lives, which pretty much guarantees he’ll be out for revenge.

Inside baseball: Fitzgibbon is back... sort of

Season 1 fans will remember Agent Larry Fitzgibbon (Lochlyn Munro) getting taken out by the Butterflies alongside Sophie Song (Annie Chang). Season 2 pulls a multiverse trick and brings Fitzgibbon back — as an Earth-X agent. He shows up at Auggie’s place after Peacemaker fights his way out of ARGUS earlier in the episode. Auggie initially blows him off and tells him to come back with a warrant. Once the Auggie situation goes sideways, Fitzgibbon and his team storm the house. The last time we see him on Earth-X this week, he’s in a firefight heading for Chris, until Earth-X Vigilante blocks him and his squad. Sophie doesn’t appear in this dimension, for obvious reasons. With one episode left, it wouldn’t be shocking if Fitzgibbon pops up again.

Where we’re headed

There’s one episode left this season, and it sure feels like Peacemaker is angling to tee up other DCU projects — especially Superman: Man of Tomorrow — before rolling into a potential Season 3.
