Peacemaker's Wild Deleted Scene Shows Economos Making Out With Vigilante's Mom

While breaking down Episode 6 on Peacemaker: The Official Podcast, James Gunn revealed an early Season 2 draft that nearly had John Economos making out with Vigilante’s mother—a scrapped gag that shows just how unhinged the writers were willing to go before dialing it back.
Peacemaker Season 2 keeps one-upping itself on the weirdness scale, but James Gunn just revealed an even wilder beat that did not survive the cut. On the official podcast, he walked through Episode 6 and casually mentioned a scrapped gag where John Economos almost wound up making out with Vigilante's mom. Yes, that was on the table.
The gag that almost made it
While breaking down Episode 6 on 'Peacemaker: The Official Podcast,' Gunn said an early draft included a quick shock cut on Earth-2: Vigilante heads toward his basement, glances into the living room, and sees his mom on the couch rolling around with John Economos. It was designed as a fast, jaw-drop moment to rattle Vigilante before the rest of the scene.
"In one of the original scripts, I had Vigilante's mom rolling around on the couch, making out with John Economos."
Gunn even had Vigilante stumbling into it and basically muttering that his mom was with John Economos before bailing. If it had stayed, it would have been the only time Economos appeared on Earth-2 in the episode. Instead, Gunn cut the bit for pacing and tone. Translation: funny on paper, probably too much in the middle of everything else. It never made it to camera.
What we got instead
Without the couch chaos, the Earth-2 detour sticks to Vigilante interacting with his alternate self and poking around the house. The episode leans into smaller, weirder details to show the differences across realities: think 'Cheeriohs' cereal boxes and some deeply questionable lawn ornaments. It is still very Gunn, just calibrated.
Room reactions and inside baseball
On the podcast, Steve Agee (Economos) cracked up at the thought of the scene, and Jennifer Holland chimed in, joking about how ridiculous that draft version sounded. It is one of those classic Gunn moves: pitch the outrageous version in development, then trim it back when the rhythm of the episode demands it.
One casting nugget
Behind the scenes, Taylor St. Clair landed the role of Vigilante's mother in Season 2. The makeout didn't happen, but she is the one playing mom in the finished version.
Peacemaker Season 2 is streaming on Max (formerly HBO Max). This tidbit first surfaced via Vritti Johar at SuperHeroHype.
