On the official podcast, he walked through Episode 6 and casually mentioned a scrapped gag where John Economos almost wound up making out with Vigilante's mom. Yes, that was on the table.
The gag that almost made it
While breaking down Episode 6 on 'Peacemaker: The Official Podcast,' Gunn said an early draft included a quick shock cut on Earth-2: Vigilante heads toward his basement, glances into the living room, and sees his mom on the couch rolling around with John Economos. It was designed as a fast, jaw-drop moment to rattle Vigilante before the rest of the scene.
"In one of the original scripts, I had Vigilante's mom rolling around on the couch, making out with John Economos."
Gunn even had Vigilante stumbling into it and basically muttering that his mom was with John Economos before bailing. If it had stayed, it would have been the only time Economos appeared on Earth-2 in the episode. Instead, Gunn cut the bit for pacing and tone. Translation: funny on paper, probably too much in the middle of everything else. It never made it to camera.
What we got instead
Without the couch chaos, the Earth-2 detour sticks to Vigilante interacting with his alternate self and poking around the house. The episode leans into smaller, weirder details to show the differences across realities: think 'Cheeriohs' cereal boxes and some deeply questionable lawn ornaments. It is still very Gunn, just calibrated.
