Paul Mescal's Wild Transformation For Gladiator 2 Leaves Fans Stunned
It looks like Ridley Scott's upcoming movie will feature lots of fighting and bare torsos.
Not long ago, Paul Mescal was an obscure Irish actor known only to theatregoers. However, he gained worldwide fame and immense fan admiration after starring in the series Normal People. Let's face it, everyone adores him.
But now it seems that Paul is gaining even more fans while those who already knew and loved his work are becoming even more frenzied. That's all because of his extensive training for Ridley Scott's upcoming Gladiator sequel. This once slender actor has transformed into a much more muscular version of himself that even Arnold Schwarzenegger in his prime might have been a bit envious of.
We all know how astonishing the metamorphosis of Hollywood actors can be when they radically transform their bodies in a short period of time through rigorous diet and exercise. Mescal is no exception. He is currently preparing for Gladiator 2, which is already in production, but it seems that fans are more interested in the actor himself than the movie.
Recently, a video showcasing Paul's new and improved body (along with his bare torso) was published. It appears that the actor's personal trainer posted the video, as Mescal has no public social media pages.
Many fans were ecstatic after seeing the footage of their idol.
'I didn't know how much I needed to wake up with a video of HIM training until today oh my god?' a fan exclaimed.
It is worth noting that when asked about the training by journalists from The Hollywood Reporter, the actor did not express much enthusiasm about the topic.
'With films like this and superhero films, there is sometimes a focus on that, which I don't find that interesting. Of course there's a physical robustness required for the character, but past that, I'm not interested. This guy's got to fight and got to be a beast. And whatever that looks and feels like is right for me, is what it's going to be. Sometimes I see films and I’m like, "That person doesn't look real."'
Speaking of Gladiator 2, there are not many plot details available. The film will be a sequel to the original story and will focus on an adult Lucius, the nephew of Emperor Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix), who is saved by Maximus (Russell Crowe). Filming began this month, in June 2023.
