Outlander Star Drops Major Details on How the Series Ends in Season 8
Outlander is locking in its endgame, and star Sophie Skelton just dropped major clues about how Season 8 will close the Fraser-MacKenzie saga.
Outlander is nearing the finish line, and one of its stars just dropped a fun little twist about how it all wraps up. If you love this show and you hate spoilers, good news: they planned for that.
They shot more than one ending (yes, really)
At the Gotham Awards, Sophie Skelton — aka Brianna 'Bree' Fraser MacKenzie — told Entertainment Tonight that the team filmed multiple versions of the finale. That is a very show-that-fears-leaks move, and honestly, a smart one. It keeps everyone guessing and gives the editors options.
'We actually filmed a few different endings just so it' s kind of a surprise for everyone.'
Skelton added that filming wrapped a while back and she knows the wait has been long. In other words: they are done, we just have to sit tight.
Where things stand
Outlander launched on August 9, 2014, and in January 2023 Starz officially ordered Season 8 and labeled it the final chapter. The series was developed for TV by Ronald D. Moore, adapting Diana Gabaldon' s novels, and Skelton joined the cast in Season 2.
Skelton on saying goodbye
She called the end 'bittersweet' and admitted it felt strange to let Bree go after starting the role when she was much younger. If you' ve been with this thing since the early seasons, you get it — the show basically grew up with its cast.
