Looks like the long wait will pay off with Part 2's intensity.

With the beloved time-traveling romance show on hiatus until next year, Outlander fans are facing another difficult Draughtlander period. Now is probably the best time to read or reread Diana Gabaldon's original book series, but some fans of the TV adaptation would likely want to maintain the sense of intrigue.

Regardless of whether the writers will stay close to the source materia, it already looks like the upcoming Part 2 of Season 7 will be a powerful emotional rollercoaster.

As you surely know, Outlander Season 8 will be the show's last, and the finale will differ from the book series, as Gabaldon is still working on the tenth novel. As the penultimate chapter of the show, Part 2 of the seventh season will have to have higher stakes and even more drama for the Fraser-MacKenzie family.

And that's exactly what the show's executive producer Maril Davis has hinted at.

The Story So Far

After the gruesome Second Battle of Saratoga, marked by the victory of the US Army and the death of Simon Fraser who fought on the British side, Jamie, Claire, and Young Ian set out for Scotland in November 1777 to give their relative a proper burial.

At the same time, equally terrifying events befall Bree and Roger MacKenzie in the 1980s. Their son Jemmy has been kidnapped by Brianna's coworker who traveled back in time to find hidden gold. Roger and his relative from the past, Buck, travel through the stones, not knowing if they can catch up with the kidnapper.

So what awaits our heroes? Will they be able to take a break from the exhausting drama and war?

Producer Teases More Drama

Alas, executive producer Maril Davis has warned fans that their favorite characters are going to face some breathtaking events that will change them forever.

'You know what they say: You can never go home again. When we come back, we will see that things have changed and surprises await. It’s a very bittersweet time. Jamie and Claire are never safe. Trouble finds the Frasers, and the back half [of the season] is insane. Once again, their worst fears are realized. Something happens that could tear them apart. I don't know if Jamie and Claire can recover from it,' Davis shared.

According to the producer, the same will be true for Roger and Buck's time travel, as the two don't even expect what they might encounter in the past. There'll also be plenty of drama for young Ian and his sweetheart, Rachel Hunter, who are left behind in America with his faithful dog, Rollo.

Well, fans certainly hope that Jamie and Claire, as well as Roger and Bree, will withstand all the difficulties, and no shocking events would ever tear them apart.
